Order - double espresso Gear: unknown espresso machine, unknown Mahlkonig grinder Served in stylish ceramic cup on a tray with a glass of water. Coffee is already stirred by the barista so no need for spoon. Coffee information: light roasted Kenya, washed, and grown in Rungeto Cooperative.
Cupping score:
Aroma: Fruit-pie Bitterness: 1/5 Sweetness: 4/5 Acidity: 3/5 Body: 4/5 Flavor: Dark berries and bakery Overall score: 8/10 Service: 3/5 - Was friendly but neglected to answer my questions about the gear. Mood: 1/5 - Terrible and stressing. Seating: 2/5 Acoustics: 1/5 - Noisy especially when grinding or steaming. You will get a headache. Music: A mix of rock and soul - 3/5 Miscellaneous notes: It always stresses me that this is a clothing shop and at the same time a coffee bar. It makes me feel out of place, and although I like their bar set-up and coffee, I will never relax while sitting there. I like the fact that they have so many options on the menu and I think they make some very delicious, approachable, and complex espressos. I also like the way they communicate milk textures in an easy and understandable way, so it's really a shame that their place is so not "hyggelig" to be at.
Recommended for: Anybody who needs an extremely good coffee to go or anyone who just wants to be a hipster.
Conclusion: Terrible cafe experience, good ideas, coffee,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHad two pour overs which were decent, just not as mind blowing as expected. The Esmeralda Natural was a beautiful blend, very aromatic and the texture was almost smooth and creamy. No complains. As nice as the El Turpial sounded, it came out quite acidic, which was disappointing since it smelled super floral and otherwise had rich fruity notes. Got better when cold. The coffee seemed overpriced for what it was, worth trying if you're an enthusiast, but the pour overs aren't as unique as I expected, and can compare to other fancy cafes. Service was unremarkable. I asked about their recommendations with stone fruit and citrus notes but was just asked to look at the menu or grab a batch brew. Maybe because they were busy? But there a lots of people working behind the bar so it seemed a little odd they don't actually tell you about the coffee. Standard "third wave" coffee otherwise, but given the two I tried I don't think it's worth a special trip here. The interior is chaotic- beans are lower than eye level or hidden behind the bar, with most space taken up by retail...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI visited 3 times and coffees were great, no doubt. Smooth and aromatic flat white. Steam milk machine looked very ecological.
But one barista obviously showed that she was annoyed and talked to us strongly when we asked about coffee. Then she visibly did different service compared with others. For me having coffee means atmosphere, surroundings and experience too. I felt bad at it After a year, Second time I was disappointed by their servise and this time coffee too. Person at a register didnāt show motivation of working there and disappeared after finishing the order without checking the payment. A barista was confused who ordered what. Coffee taste was generic and not special but was ,I felt, pretty expensive. I know a better barista who brew better La Cabra coffee in another shop so I donāt find any sense to come here again. I expected the original roastery coffee place...
