First impressions: I entered the building with my wife and we waited 3 minutes awkwardly as nobody greeted us or looked our way. Without words, the man behind the counter pointed at a table for us to sit at that a couple had just left meaning the table was not cleaned or ready to sit at. The table was littered with bread crumbs which we had to wipe off ourselves. Three groups entered immediately after us, all greeted and seated at freshly cleaned tables and all were given silverware, menus and glasses right away. My wife and I waited 7 minutes at our dirty, empty table as the new groups' orders were taken before us and it wasn't until we stood up to leave that we were given any attention other than the man who pointed at a dirty table for us to sit. Unacceptable by all standards.
The food: I ordered the Lasagna but did not order a drink because the water prices were ridiculous; $3 per glass of tap water and $7 per glass of still water. The food came to the table fairly quick and it tasted great but was in small portions, something common in Copenhagen it seems. The food here is light years better than the Italian restaurants in the city center and in Nyhavn. After the food was brought to the table, no other contact was made by the waitress. I had to waive to the man at the bar to get my check and my wife and I left immediately after paying.
Summary: No food is worth lowsy service, especially at the prices we were paying. I will...
Read moreItalian here - so let me tell you with absolute certainty that this restaurant is not going to serve you authentic Italian food. It's sufficient to look at the picture I uploaded of the alleged "bruschetta", covered in melted mozzarella and pesto, something we'd never serve in Italy, not even in tourist traps.
I addressed this with the Italian waiting staff, they apologized when they realized I was Italian (so were they), and then went on to explain that that's the way Danes like it, all covered in cheese. Had they known I was Italian they would have given me the heads up. Whether their statement about Danes' food preferences is true, you be the judge, but fact is: if you are looking for authentic Italian food, steer clear of this place.
If you instead want pizza with salmon, fettuccine Alfredo or pasta with chicken, I guess this is the place for you.
We also ordered pizza, which wasn't any better, the toppings were just cheap and low quality ingredients, especially the cooked ham of the capricciosa. You could barely taste the tomato sauce.
The only good thing about this place is the playlist (nice Italian music in the background) and the nice pictures on the walls of famous Italian actors.
I feel sorry for the Italian waiting staff for having to...
Read moreFood and service was good. Menu was large and had classic Italian place dishes on it. We had been eating gluten free and vegan all week, so my dad and I took advantage of my mom and sister staying at home. This has the top ratings on yelp for the area, so we decided to try it. There is nothing special about this place; either food quality or ambiance. If I lived in Copenhagen, I would add this to my rotation of restaurants, but I wouldn't recommend it to fellow travelers. We had the pasta al salmone, which was cooked to am dente perfection. We had a pizza with ham al parma, gorgonzola, and artichokes. It was a little salty, but we got everything we wanted in one bite. Crust was good, but I'm partial to my thick crust/deep dish. Certainly does the job if you're looking for...
