I was skeptical as there were quite some negative reviews, but I think this hotel is totally fine during my stay! pros: 1)I’m actually thrilled to know I could check in earlier (15-20mins) than official time! The reception lady was nice and efficient too. 2)Room is totally fine for short stay. It is clean and bright and comes with everything you need, e.g. I really like socket by the bed coz not all hotels have that. Facilities don’t seem dated except for the carpet, but it’s still alright. True that wifi might disconnect sometimes. 3)Lobby is spacious, nothing extravagant but still nicely designed. 4)Great location. but let’s be honest Copenhagen is such a compact walkable city so a lot of hotels naturally have good locations. cons: 1)no free luggage storage and no pricing transparency. 2)poor customer service. Agree with others that hotel should provide free luggage storage before and after check in. If the hotel must charge guests, they should make the pricing info transparent and visible on their website! What upsets me the most is that, when I learnt that they don’t offer free storage, I wrote an email enquiring how much it’d cost. The person (Mathias Gonzalez) replied to me dare to say “Please come by the reception to check prices”. Then I told him, if I don’t know how much in total it’d cost me staying in this hotel in advance, I would stay somewhere else. Only by then, he sent me the price grid WITHOUT even addressing me. They don’t even bother to have some basic courtesy.

The most we've ever paid for a hotel room and the smallest room. We paid 4195 DKK ($914 CAD, £492) per night. That's 3.2 times their regular rate of 1310 DKK (3 weeks later, same room, not including breakfast). Our mistake was to be in Copenhagen the weekend of the half marathon, but this did not give the hotel the right to rip us off to this extent. When we got to the room it was minuscule. It was clearly intended for a single person, not a couple, to the extent that the bedding and towel for the second person were in an under-bed drawer. The room size of 12 sq metres was not obvious when booking, being hidden well down the FAQs, and this included the toilet/shower cubicle. We chose to pay a small premium for a "WakeUp Heaven" room which promised a "beautiful view"; we were on the 6th floor and looked straight across the street into the windows of the building opposite, below the roof line. No standard amenities (no kettle, coffee maker, safe, bath-mat). No drinking glasses, just 2 paper cups. It is essentially more like a hostel than a hotel — probably OK for a single person doing an overnight. On the plus, the location is good, the rooms clean and the extra-cost breakfast, although a bit of a zoo, was up to normal standards. But you should not feel angry as soon as you enter your hotel room — we did.

The hotel is located near Kongens Nytorv (square and also the metro station), which is close by the Nyhavn. The lobby is big and open. It was busy when we arrived, but there are a lot of rooms, so that’s understandable. The rooms are small, but clean and proper for a citytrip. You can rent a locker to store your bagage, it’s about €2 although you have to pay in Danish crowns. If you don’t have cash, you can pay by card at the reception and you’ll receive a coin. The only point of improvement; I booked a room for two, but everything was set for one person. We went back to reception and a staff-member came to the room. There was an extra blanket and towels in the drawer of the bed, which we didn’t know. It’s way more easy to set the room for two, when it’s booked for two.

Summary for those in a hurry :||After immediately reporting a booking date error, I was treated with complete contempt by the "Reservations Supervisor" who literally told me: "You can book at another hotel, but don't get the dates wrong this time!" Inhumane and arrogant customer service to avoid at all costs.||||A disastrous customer experience :||I want to share my particularly disappointing experience with this establishment, not regarding the rooms or facilities which I didn't get to experience, but concerning customer service of striking coldness and lack of humanity.||||The facts :||Having made a date error when booking via Booking.com (July instead of September), I immediately contacted the hotel the same day to explain the situation and ask if it was possible to cancel the fees or modify the dates. I should mention that this request was made just minutes after the initial booking, and my wish was indeed to stay at this establishment, but on the correct dates.||||An encouraging first telephone reception :||On the phone, a first employee was understanding and advised me to send a direct email to the hotel to facilitate processing my request. Summary for those in a hurry : After immediately reporting a booking date error, I was treated with complete contempt by the "Reservations Supervisor" who literally told me: "You can book at another hotel, but don't get the dates wrong this time!" Inhumane and arrogant customer service to avoid at all costs.

A disastrous customer experience : I want to share my particularly disappointing experience with this establishment, not regarding the rooms or facilities which I didn't get to experience, but concerning customer service of striking coldness and lack of humanity.

The facts : Having made a date error when booking via Booking.com (July instead of September), I immediately contacted the hotel the same day to explain the situation and ask if it was possible to cancel the fees or modify the dates. I should mention that this request was made just minutes after the initial booking, and my wish was indeed to stay at this establishment, but on the correct dates.

An encouraging first telephone reception : On the phone, a first employee was understanding and advised me to send a direct email to the hotel to facilitate processing my request. I therefore wrote a polite and respectful letter explaining my situation.

The true face of customer service : The response from the "Reservations Supervisor" was of bewildering dryness: a categorical refusal without the slightest consideration for the circumstances. When I expressed my disappointment in a courteous manner, this person had the audacity to lecture me about "respectful tone" while maintaining an inflexible attitude.

The height of rudeness : The climax of this disastrous experience came during my second phone call. When I legitimately asked what interest I would have in booking with them for the correct dates if no commercial gesture was possible, the "Reservations Supervisor" literally replied: "You can book at another hotel, but don't get the dates wrong this time!" This response reveals total contempt for customers and a complete absence of professionalism.

My feelings : In an industry where hospitality should be the fundamental value, I felt like I was treated as a mere credit card number. No empathy, no flexibility, no willingness to find a constructive solution.

Conclusion : I strongly advise against this establishment, not for its hotel services which I don't know, but for its customer service of unacceptable arrogance and rigidity. There are many hotels where people still know how to show humanity and understanding in situations like this. To err is human, inflexibility...

Wakeup Copenhagen was exactly what I needed it to be! I landed at the airport around 6:30 pm and I took to the metro to the city center and walked from there to the hotel. It was about a 10-15 minute walk, however it was just a bit tedious as I had a small carry-on sized suitcase and most of the roads are cobblestone or uneven so it was a bit of a challenge, but it was not difficult to navigate to the hotel. Upon arrival, it was easy to locate the check-in kiosk. (Note they do have an option to check in at the counter if you want to do it that way as well) At check-in, I just needed to input some information from my passport, then I activated my own room key (it gave you the option to choose how many room keys you would make). Then I headed up the elevator to get to my room. (Note: you need the room key to activate the elevator as well). When I got to the room it was a bit smaller than expected but still had enough room. It was just me and it was a double sized bed with only one pillow (though my check-in receipt noted that there were extra pillows and blankets located in the drawer under the bed, however when I opened the drawer, they were still in the plastic so I did not want to use unwashed, plastic-y pieces. The bed was decently comfortable when just sitting on it, however, it was not a good night of sleep, as the bed was much harder than anticipated and it made sleeping quite difficult. Additionally, the pillow is not a traditional rectangle shaped pillow but rather a square and it was not solid enough to provide enough support. The bathroom facilities were quite clean. There are no shelves inside the shower so I had to put my toiletries on the sink and open the shower door each time I wanted to grab shampoo or body wash. Overall, it was a decent place and located in a good area. I really only needed the hotel so I could have somewhere to store my stuff during the day while I was sightseeing and place to sleep at night. The wifi was okay, just a bit spotty at times. There is a luggage storage service in their basement but I don't think it was complimentary with your stay, so be prepared for that if you want to drop your bags off first if you arrive before...
