Visited the islamic arts part of the collection, biggest islamic art collection in europe they say and the amount of pieces were REALLY impressive but most pieces were stacked on top of another so i've had the pull the drawers to be able to see all those pieces manually with my hand to be able to see them so that was quite a challenge for me to see all the miniature, textile and calligraphy pieces and especially at those areas lightning was terrible aswell and i've had hard time to be able to see the details which were important for those pieces of art especially, it's quite sad how important pieces of history for the whole world is in the hands of those who don't really care about neither the history nor the art itself but most probably holding those pieces for their values or their status and lastly all the descriptions only the exception of some brief history ones were in danish which everyone interested in this exhibition probably know the danish language i guess? only some of the brief history parts were in english and they were written from a western perspective and didn't seem to clash with the pieces of art that is being showed there imo so overall it was good to see all these pieces of history but they were the only thing that was good about this museum.
-small venue -bad lightning -danish descriptions -great pieces of art and history
those pieces deserve a better place, couldn't really understand how they got here in the...

Tucked away just beside Kongens Have, the David Collection was the perfect way to start my birthday. We visited on a calm Wednesday morning in mid-July, and from the moment we stepped in, it felt like a peaceful escape from the city’s noise and crowds.
I was genuinely surprised by the quality of the collection, the professionalism of the staff, and the way everything was presented, especially considering there’s no entrance fee. It’s a generous gift to the public.
We really enjoyed walking through the rooms with Danish and European art, furniture, and ceramics, as well as the beautiful Chinese and Japanese pieces. But what truly stood out was the Islamic art collection. I’ve never seen anything like it. The way the pieces were displayed across the rooms and corridors was thoughtful and immersive. The storytelling, layout, and even the subtle interactive elements made the whole experience both informative and moving.
We ran out of time and had to rush through some parts, which I regret, because I could’ve easily spent the entire day there. It’s one of the most pleasant museum visits I’ve had in a long time.
Thank you again to everyone involved in making the David Collection what it is. You’ve created something...

My wife and I had the pleasure of visiting Davidssamlingen right here in Copenhagen, and we were thoroughly impressed. While not specifically specializing in Islamic art, Davidssamlingen houses an incredibly impressive collection that spans from the 7th century to around 1850, covering a vast geographical area from Spain to India. The quality and range of the pieces on display are exceptional, offering a deep dive into Islamic artistic heritage.
What makes Davidssamlingen even more special is its peaceful ambiance, coupled with the fact that it's free to visit. This allows for a leisurely exploration of art without the hustle and bustle typically found in more internationally recognized museums. The museum's quiet and welcoming environment makes it a perfect spot for art lovers who prefer a more intimate experience.
The collection is so vast and rich that it invites numerous visits, and we are already planning our next. For anyone living in or visiting Copenhagen, Davidssamlingen is a must-visit destination. Its understated charm and splendid collection ensure a five-star experience for all who walk through its doors. We love it and look forward to uncovering more treasures on...
