This is the worst and most laughable restaurant experience I’ve ever had.
The staff didn’t actually work there, but were friends of the regular staff that were off to a festival.
The “staff” thus did not know the menu, and we had to show them the menu online. The “staff” also didn’t know the table numbers and therefore didn’t know which tables ordered what food. The overall atmosphere was consequentially very chaotic.
The “staff” did not take our orders, but told us that our food was coming. This left us wondering what food we were going to get served. A server handed us some nuts and olives while stating he was pretty sure we ordered them (we didn’t).
After 20 minutes the head chef came over, and we got to ask if we had actually ordered. He told us no, and we got to order directly from him one of each item on the online only football menu (a panini, a ragu sandwich and a hotdog).
As the advertisements online, the boards outside, and the posters on the walls inside the restaurant all said that they are streaming all euro matches, we asked if they were turning on the TV anytime soon, as the match had started already. We were however met with a big “huh, are you here for football? Ok you can sit downstairs , please carry your drinks”
40 minutes after our order we got tired of waiting and asked when our food would be ready. No communication before this. They did however turn on the TV, 15 minutes into the match, and handed us the remote(?).
Our “luxury hotdogs” finally came, 60 minutes after ordering, (two although we ordered one) with three large metal containers of garnish (think fast food kitchen steel containers). We did our best not breaking out laughing at the containers. The “luxury hotdogs” were overcooked and dry. The waiter told us sauces were coming.
The rest of our order went missing after this.
The sauces came. All 17 of them. In their original containers. In an even larger metal tray. At this moment the bar had filled up with guests arguing over the counter as to what they had ordered and how much they were paying. We, however, couldn’t hold it in any longer and cried as we laughed at the absolute state of our dining table. (See picture)
Then a huge bowl of French fries, with an absurd amount of salt, was served (although not on the menu). Luckily we had plenty of sauces.
To end it all we off great we got the fries for free. They weren’t on the menu so who knows how much we saved.
We acknowledge that sometimes a guest’s expectations are misaligned with what a restaurant can deliver. We were expecting a more elevated football experience with a gourmet touch on traditional football snacks, and were there for this football menu. And maybe this had been the case on previous occasions. We also acknowledge that most of the faults tonight were due to none of the servers actually working here and did not seem to have a single clue what was going on nor any previous waiting experience. But the restaurant should have closed down for the day or at least closed the kitchen, and the sent an email to all of us who pre booked a table and told it as it is - that they are understaffed and will not be able to deliver appropriate service nor serve proper food in time.
Hopefully this was a very unfortunate day to come and visit and that standards are higher otherwise. We felt genuinely bad for the “staff” who all did their best and probably had the worst day at work today. Hope that the original staff are enjoying...
