Review of my wedding at Jellyfish on 02.21.25.
If you’re considering having your wedding at Jellyfish, DO IT!!! It was an absolute dream! Yes, communication is slow. but don’t let that discourage you, it’s just how they operate. They focus on one wedding at a time, so when your day arrives, they WILL give it their full attention. Gianna was difficult to reach at times, which was frustrating, but in the end, she truly delivered, and everything came together beautifully.
Farah deserves special recognition... she was INCREDIBLE! Detail-oriented, kind, and completely dedicated to making my vision come to life. She was responsive, made sure everything was handled. Me and my bridesmaids stayed at the Jellyfish hotel next door the night before. We went in the morning (the day before the wedding) to drop our bags and my dress off, and Farah was there.. then we went back around 11 PM for the night and Farah WAS STILL THERE!! I asked her why and she said because they were fixing/setting something up with the dancefloor and she wanted to stay to make sure it was done. She was back at 7 AM the next day on my wedding day and was there for me the entire day, ensuring everything was perfect. I cannot thank her enough. She was like my fairy godmother, ANYTHING that I needed, she handled, and with a smile on her face. She is the absolute BEST!!
Jellyfish is breathtaking. Of course, there were minor hiccups (which is inevitable), but I was the only one who noticed them. My guests were literally in awe of the beauty of the venue and with how good the food, drinks, and service was.
Upgrades I Chose:
Alcohol package upgrade Bistro lights for the reception Ceremony chairs (kept the included chairs for the reception) Hired a violinist (HIGHLY recommend—he was magical!) I kept the wooden aisle which was included. Also, the included centerpieces were MORE than enough. We kept The drinks were amazing. The bartenders and waitstaff made sure everyone was taken care of, and my guests are still raving about how great everything was. The DJ and MC were phenomenal, keeping the energy high all night long. The ambiance was perfect.
My only complaints: -I had specifically asked for NO pink flowers since I didn't really like pink, and I had asked for more lilac/violet. I even sent inspo pics, but there were pink flowers and no violet. Honestly, I am not a bridezilla, so it wasn't that big of a deal to me, and it still looked beautiful. -I got a livestream company to livestream my sister (she couldn't come bc she had a baby!!) and the guy got into a car accident on the way!! He's okay though!! -Lastly, my biggest complaint was that the wedding was set to end at 10 PM.. the cocktail hour went far longer than it was supposed to, and this was due to the photographer saying that we needed more time to get the right lighting. My complaint is that nobody had ran this by me for approval and so by the time we sat down to eat it was almost 8 PM! Only leaving 2 hours to party. Farah was kind enough to allow my parents to extend an hour, but my parents did have to pay for it. BUT, we honestly had the best time that hour and my parents are glad they extended! I just wish they would have ran it by me or my parents first about extending cocktail hour.
Hair & Makeup - Anna Nuet Photo/Video - Boyko Travel Agent - Sharon with Barefoot Bridal Hotel - Paradisus Palma Real
I highly recommend all of the above. Paradisus was AMAZING! My guests are still talking about it.
FINAL VERDICT: My wedding at Jellyfish was worth EVERY penny. My parents do not regret a single dollar spent because it was truly priceless. If you’re considering Jellyfish, DO NOT HESITATE!!! Farah and the team will make sure your day is magical. It was truly the best night of our lives.
If I had to do it all over again, I would choose Jellyfish over and...
Read moreWe had our destination wedding at Jellyfish restaurant 2 weeks ago. The venue was absolutely gorgeous and we were very happy with our choice! The food and service were excellent as well and since they have a lot of weddings there, they have a variety of decor options to choose from and the decor at our wedding was just stunning! I would definitely recommend Jellyfish for anyone planning a destination wedding in Punta Cana, however there were a couple of things that did not go as planned on my wedding day that I'd like to share here as well.
I had a bit of trouble communicating with the wedding coordinator in advance of the wedding day. Many of my questions went unanswered and I often had to ask more than once until I got clarification on things. When we had a scheduled phone call, the wedding coordinator was unavailable and she often seemed too busy. Most of the communication ended up being over email.
Since I sensed that the wedding coordinator was not always on top of things, i made sure to be extra organized and clear in all the documents I shared with her. I sent her both digital copies of seating arrangements, timelines, etc and I also took hard copies to her a couple days before the wedding to make sure nothing was missed.
Despite this, there were a few crucial things forgotten and I didnt find out until after my cocktail hour. The first thing was that our DJ did not have all of the music that I had selected. I had shared these with the wedding coordinator in advance, but somehow, we found out that the DJ just had music up to cocktail hour. This was extremely stressful for us as we found out right before we were supposed to have our entrance into the reception. Having to deal with resending the music to the DJ set back our timeline by about 30 minutes and caused a huge amount of stress for me.
At the same time that I was trying to deal with that, my maid of honor came to me and said that there were no name cards in the reception area and guests didnt know where to sit. Our wedding coordinator had promised to print those out for me, but she had not done it. Since I was super stressed and in the middle of dealing with the music, I ask my maid of honor to seat guests where she thought they should go as I had no time to deal with the seating issue. The frustrating thing was that I had spent many hours working on my seating chart to ensure that guests are sitting near people they get along with. The lack of name cards also caused a lot of confusion for guests (interrupted the flow of events) and caused a lot of stress for my maid of honor as well.
During the time that we were working out these two major issues which were the result of our wedding coordinator not doing what she had promised, she was no where to be found. In fact, I did not see her again until several hours later. This was so frustrating as she had promised to be there the entire event to make sure things run smoothly. I kept desperately asking other staff where she is and no one knew or was willing to tell me.
Over all, I loved my wedding at jellyfish and our amazing MC, Jehison Cabrera was there to help with some of the issues we faced, but there was probably a solid hour of the event that was very stressful and frustrating for me and really impacted my experience. I put so much time and effort into planning every detail and I felt like Farah did not take my event very seriously. A few days later when I shared my experience with her, she was not at all apologetic and didnt take any responsibility for what happened.
My advice to anyone planning a wedding at jellyfish is to have your wedding here for sure because it is absolutely beautiful, but be on top of every detail (maybe more reminders to wedding coordinator) and maybe take more into your own...
Read moreMy husband booked the Jellyfish Restaurant on 5/29/21 for a 50th Birthday Dinner planned for Sunday July 25, 2021 which turned out to be a total disaster. This was the worst experience of the entire week we spent in Punta Cana for my 50th Birthday with 20 of our friends. The reservation was booked way in advance and correspondence up until the day we arrived was initiated by my HUSBAND. The day of our reservation for a seated dinner of 20 several calls were made to the restaurant to ensure the restaurant was prepared for our arrival. The Jellyfish restaurant was recommended by our concierge at the Villa we rented for our guests for this event. The party arrived to a large table set up for the group, airy, beautiful restaurant and we were seated to began celebrating my birthday. For 20 ppl we were give 1 server that was apparently overwhelmed from the beginning as he proceeded with drink orders. The process of ordering food was an even larger catastrophe. Let me just get to the heartbreaking, unacceptable things that you should take into account if you decide to use this restaurant for an event, wedding or special occasion.
Out of 20 ppl maybe 8 recieved A MEAL,not what they ordered but some version of someone at the tables meal. The group was them notified by the HOSTESS and WAITER, they "ran out" of food and were unable to complete the orders after the group had been waiting over an hour for dinner. My husband asked to speak to the manager, and he would NOT come out of the office to address our concerns.
This was the ultimate worst experience of customer service and a horrible way to celebrate my 50th Birthday because of this establishment. They did remove some food items that were given from the bill, but service and the fact we traveled from Texas to eat here and it was HORRIBLE is the reason for me writing this. Unacceptable!! I will give credit where it is due and this restaurant gets ZERO. The 1 star rating is for the table being...
