Really disappointing experience. We love Thai food and given the many positive reviews, we were looking forward for a nice meal. We ordered the crab cakes, the vegetable spring rolls and the fusion shrimp pad Thai. The egg rolls were fine, crispy and hot. The crab cakes, did not taste much crab (more of potatoes) but were nicely presented. The pad Thai however was also well presented but failed us in a big way in terms of taste. The vegetables were so overcooked that they tasted like purée. The noodles were also way overcooked and with the coconut cream tasted bland and mushy. The 10 very small shrimps were overcooked and tasted leathery The waiter did ask why we left most of the dish untouched. We explained the issue, he took back the dish and asked if we wanted something else. We thanked him and asked for the bill. We expected an apology from the kitchen/owner or at least a recognition that we were right. That never happened. We just got the full bill and walked 5 minutes to another restaurant with good italian food and lounge music to finish our supper and evening. Dominican Thai was one of those bad experiences that you just want to forget on an otherwise...
Read moreWe accidentally stumbled on this place. When walking up there are two restaurants next to each other. We actually meant to go to the other but my wife liked how comfortable the chairs looked and we sat down not knowing. Once the waiter welcomed us and we figured out what happened it was too late and we are very thankful, it ended up being wonderful. The location is just off the beach in a small strip with adequate shade to help with the heat. Waiters were extremely friendly food was amazing. Had Chicken Pad Thai that was wonderful. I do not care for it in the states but have had it twice here in DR and love it. My wife and I both chose the Dominican version which has a little coconut milk or cream not sure. The coconut was not overpowering at all and added a little creaminess to the dish. Atmosphere was very chill just off the main road. Met some ex pats that make this one of there regular stops. Don’t hesitate prices were reasonable starting around 650-1200 for higher end seafood. I hope we have time to go back but with so many choices...
Read moreThere are so many great places to eat in Las Terrenas, do not waste your time and money here. While an enticing concept (Thai Dominican fusion) we simply had our worst meal (by far) of our visit here. The outdoor seating is directly at ear level with the road, the beachfront restaurants a quarter mile away offer a reprieve from the incessant two-stroke engines. The service was abysmal, the waitstaff forgot to inform us some of the food we ordered wasn’t available, left us all sitting with empty drinks for 20 minutes at a time, and eventually forgot to bring us entire dishes that we had ordered. The food was fine but nothing great. The prices were exorbitantly expensive for what it was. Again, there’s simply so many great spots in this town that this restaurant couldn’t hold a candle to,...
