La Yuca Caliente — Restaurant in Las Terrenas

We ordered fried calamari for an appetizer, it was too salty and chewy and was not fresh. The batter was greasy. We ordered the pasta Mare y Monte and it was swimming in oil no fresh basil and the Parmesan I think was missing. I ordered the 16oz ribeye, supposedly certified angus beef, dry aged. The steak was very thin, barely over a 1/4 inch. It was not seasoned and although mostly tender it was 1/3 fat and tasted off. It came with fried yucca on the side. And we each had a lemonade. For that we paid 6598.40 Pesos about $157 Canadian We did not enjoy our food. We ate it because we had travelled all day and we were very hungry but we were very disappointed with the food and the service. The only saving grace for this place is it’s directly on the beach with nice views. My advice is stay away from this place the food is off, it’s not with the price it fell like we were robbed. I can’t say anything to any other the positive reviews, perhaps their experience was good but my stomach is still sour from our meal last night. Zero stars...

No nos gustó la experiencia.

Cinco amigas y yo fuimos esta noche. Cuando llegamos nos dijeron que había mucha gente así que sabíamos que esperaríamos un poco para ser atendidas. Ya era tarde en la noche. Sin embargo, la espera fue excesiva. Varias veces tuvimos que solicitar que nos limpiaran la mesa, por ejemplo.

Cuando trajeron la comida, a una de mis amigas le trajeron algo que no había pedido. Tuvo que esperar un tiempo extra a que se la trajeran.

Cuando se la trajeron (una pasta carbonara), no se la pudo comer, ya que no estaba buena. Las demás chicas la probamos, efectivamente no estaba buena. Se lo comentó a la mesera que nos había atendido, y la joven lo que le dijo fue que seguro ella no había comido una carbonara cocinada a la italiana, que a la dominicana se le echaba crema y a la italiana no, y que el concepto del restaurante era de comida italiana. Fue muy condescendiente su actitud. Mi amiga, de hecho, ha ESTADO en Italia y ha comido pasta a la carbonara en Italia. Y la joven, en vez de escuchar lo que mi amiga le decía que sentía que estaba mal con la pasta, quiso insinuar que ella no sabía de lo que estaba hablando.

Mi amiga también había querido pedir una entrada en particular, pero le dijeron que esa ya no la estaban haciendo, que al día siguiente sí. Sin embargo, vimos más adelante como a dos mesas diferentes les servían esa entrada... y pidieron al mismo tiempo que nosotras.

Otra amiga había pedido una botella de agua, y el vaso que le trajeron para servirse estaba sucio.

Lo peor fue cuando al final quisimos decirle al manager que estaba mala la carbonara, y su actitud fue peor. Muy mal manejo de servicio al cliente. El manager no quiso aceptar que a mi amiga le había parecido mala la pasta, y por alguna razón comenzó a decir que las mujeres tienen que saber cocinar, que no pueden ser solo lindas, porque sino no se pueden casar, y le preguntó a mi amiga que si era soltera. Nada de lo que dijo tenía nada que ver con el tema a mano. Cuando le cuestionamos el comentario machista, agregó entonces que además las mujeres no podían quejarse de dolor de cabeza en las noches (???).

Como a esas alturas ya nos habían cobrado, decidimos decirle que el servicio había sido muy malo y nos fuimos.

Comimos: Calzone (yo), me pareció regular. Pizza margarita, regular. Pizza picante, pero no picaba. Pizza de cuatro quesos, estaba muy dura. Pasta a la carbonara,...

First time here. The service of the waiters was fine. The restaurant have a nice view to the beach which is very nice. The food was a problem for me. It was a bit salty everything we ordered. I ordered something called an octopus hamburger and it was salty and the description said that we made an ornamental bread but what I got it was a normal bread for hamburger that you can get in every supermarket. My wife ordered ravioli and it was too salty and the amount of food was a little bit. My son also ordered an octopus but it was too salty as well. For me it is very sad that you are in a restaurant on the coast of the beach and it seems to be that they don’t know much to cook seafood.
