Manda Popy — Restaurant in Las Terrenas

Came by just to grab some pina coladas while we were chilling at the beach. Prices were great, but the drinks were amazing. Decided we had to come back later for food. Made the right call. Lots of tourist trappy spots all along the beach area here. This isn’t one of them. Tiny, small kitchen run by abuelitas, and a kind French girl hostess who was attentive even though she was the only server, waiter, and bartender. The food was unreal. We eat tons of ceviche, so this was a real treat. Fish was fresh and perfectly seasoned. Excellent amount of citrus flavor and the peppers and tomatoes mixed in it were so fresh and tasty, they uplifted the dish’s nuance. Best fish ceviche we had in RD, hands down (don’t be fooled by the spot down the beach Zu’s, it was awful!) We also got the pescado frito y tostones which were so tender inside and crisp on the outside. The fish was the star of the show, 1.5 lbs of red snapper that was the best we had in LT. The women in the kitchen are the heart and soul of the place, as you can taste the local spirit in the food. We heard lots of ooo’s and ahh’s from other patrons as well, many like us had been fooled by other tourist traps in town at the hands of limited exposure for this place.
