We were unhappy about the canned jalapeños on our crab legs. Who does that??????

Then I asked them to take it back. I was not going to eat the salmon I ordered as my main because I was apprehensive about what had happened with the crab legs. Who serves canned jalapeños? Still confused how that is “high end?” This is what they do at Coney Island oh and by the way even Coney Island diners serve fresh jalapeños. Seriously?

Anyway he came back with the bill as We just wanted to leave but he kept the crab on there. I asked him to take it off the check. I saw him speak to some manager who made inappropriate hand gestures like I was asking for a loan. Really? You have no clue who I am.

Then he brings the check minus the crab legs, but because of his demeanor I was upset, I signed “in contest” on the check. We went out to get to our driver as he had been waiting for us for 15 minutes that it took them to figure out the genius decision to return what we didn’t eat.

Then the guy comes out to the car to chase us down knocking on the window like we were some criminals. Wow! Oh and funny part it was us two women!!!? Who does that. You have a problem take it up with the credit card company. Don’t come chasing my car down like we just walked out like homeless people after having you charge my American Express platinum card. Really!!???! You have got to be kidding me. This was ridiculous. Not returning. This is horrendous and was an embarrassment to them. Go chase down your chef, he should be handcuffed for serving canned ingredients in some white table cloth high end restaurant....

While the initial dining experience at Turo was promising, our satisfaction was significantly diminished upon receiving the bill.

It appears that the establishment employs a practice known as the 'gringo tax,' whereby tourists are charged inflated prices.

To avoid this, it is advisable to either photograph the menu beforehand (or request the Spanish menu (if they have one).

Additionally, if dining with a RD local, it's important to be aware that they may NOT charge a higher rate. In such cases, it is recommended to request the manager's attention if this scam occurs to make the bill adjustment.

They may say "the cut (or portion) is larger (or more big)", but it MUST say by weight on the menu if so like any other place. That is the scam (and an insult).

Such deceptive practices detract from the overall dining experience and are particularly disappointing for a restaurant of this caliber.

If we wanted to be taken advantage of, we would go to Boca Chica, but we thought they would treat everyone equally.

Unfortunately for them, we know better. We still tipped after they made the adjustment to the bill, however they still will recive a 1-star to gain the attention...

If there was a star for ea category below, this is how it would add up : Service - 0.5 stars - Most of the personnel was helpful, honest in their recommendations and kind. However, one of our waiters (we think he was the captain) was rude to me and my cousins for no aparent reason. Nobody spends this much money for mediocre service. Quality of food (for the price you pay) - 0.5 stars - I ate the Salmon and for the price it wasnt something that would leave youbin "awe". It was good. However, the coconut dessert and the Coffee Martini were creative in flavor and presentation. Quite nice! Variety of food and drinks - 0.5 star - I have several dietary reatrictions and I was able to find several options to pick from that were interesting but not quite for the type of establishment it is. Ambience /Cleanliness - 1 -Almost perfect. Clean. Utensils, glasses, dishes were spotless!!!! Music and personel very sutil :) Classy and elegant. Location - 0.5 - traffic and parking in that area. Decided to Uber! Best...

Food was amazing. The meat quality was great. I have heard that many places in the capital give priority to white/light skin people and can discriminate against darker people but I didn't pay any mind to it because my husband and I have never had any bad experiences at Cava (one of my favorite restaurants in the capital), however, here the waiter did not come to our table to ask if we needed anything even though he was asking other tables. Also, we saw some white people come in and saw the Moso saying hi to them ( he obviously knew them) so the Moso took our waiter and started serving them right away leaving us hanging. We had to ask a different waiter to bring us the dessert menu and nobody seemed to care if we needed more drinks or if everything was well. All the attention was on the white people's table. Sadly, it is a thing in the capital. If you are a person of darker skin definitely stay away, there are better restaurants that will appreciate your business with them and treat you with respect.

I visited this place on June 7th 2022 The place was walking distance from my hotel. It is located in a nice and safe area. I got there early, around 7:00 and there only a few tables but around 9:00 the place was crowded. Nice and fancy ambience overall. Service it’s OK. This was my first time in Santo Domingo and I found out that service is average everywhere. The food was great! I ordered some Rib Eye Empanadas, a steak and a side of mushrooms. Everything cooked to perfection. You can tell they have high quality ingredients, portion size are big enough. The only opportunity for me being Mexican, is to offer salsa variety for the steak. For drinks I had a Medalla, you can’t yo wrong here, and a mezcal drink. It was really good. Place is pricey but you get what you pay. Is worth trying.
