I had one of the best food experiences -in a while- at Tributo today. It is rare to find such a cohesive, innovative and deeply purposeful initiative. From start to finish, the waiting staff is cheerful and will go above and beyond to make sure that your experience is satisfying and, that you walk out of the meal with a clear idea of what the team profoundly believes in, that comes beautifully represented in every item of the menu.
I will also highlight that I have celiac disease, an autoimmune illness that I've had from birth that basically makes my body release the full fury of its immune system on my own body, making me severely and systemically ill, whenever I ingest even the smallest trace of gluten. It's not the same thing as gluten sensitivity, gluten allergy or a choice diet. When I communicated my condition to the staff, they immediately coordinated a number of steps to guarantee my safety. The waiters along with the Chefs came out to speak to me at many times to make sure that I could eat what they were putting out. I have NEVER had a restaurant take my illness so seriously. Their management and care today should be the standard for the handling of celiac disease in restaurants. I am deeply deeply grateful.
Beyond that, part of the experience is learning about their profound desire to honor the noble animals that are the produce for your meal at Tributo while at the same time, understanding how important it is to provide a worthy stage for Ecuadorian ingredients and produce, is incredibly inspiring. In addition to that, they work with local NGOs to support initiatives for single mothers which I absolutely applaud.

Read moreI have eaten in many places and it is the first time in my life that I feel cheated, it is the worst meat I have ever eaten in my life and they sell it at a bargain price. We arrived and the first surprise was when they handed us the cocktail menu without prices, then we were going to order the meat from the menu and the maitre d told us that we have to order the meat that has made them famous and that thanks to it they won awards!!! We ordered for everyone and the 15 people who were there couldn't eat it because either it was extremely hard or it had an extremely strong flavor (knowing perfectly well what matured meat is). It was a shame because we invited foreigners and we complained and the only thing they told us was that it may have been a cut that happened to us due to bad luck. The manager also tricked us by saying that they were going to call us the next day, 10 days have passed and no one has contacted us. THE VALUE OF THE MEAT IS A THEFT THEY CHARGED US $500 for meat that was wrapped in plastic!!!

Tributo's signature dish is an outstanding piece of meat, that comes from a handpicked old cow, that has to wait 180 days in maduration, just to get the perfect taste for you to enjoy it. The texture is so soft, and the taste is so unique. To the side we had some pasta, which is mixed in front of your table, with a great cheese that melts with the spaghetti in front of your eyes.
For dessert, we had a special dish with the concept around coconut in every expression. It includes an icecream made out of coconut ashes, which was crazy delicious. This dish was a reflection of creativity and discipline. For drinks I tried a traditional Bloody Mary (with a smoked taste) that turned out to be the best Blody Mary that I ever had. I also tried "Ron de Altura" which was so good that I finished it in one zip.
