I can definitely recommend this restaurant as it was already a joy for me to find a real authentic Indian-Bangladeshi Restaurant in the heart of Cairo. I have been living as an expat in Egypt for 5 years now, but to be truthful all other famous Indian food chains run here are mostly scammed run by Non-Indian ventures which don't have anything to offer regarding the Indian taste all. So, I was happy to find this restaurant which are run by a group of Bangladeshi guys that can offer you real Indian taste and for sure , specifically, a delight for the people of Bengali origin, irrespective of nativity of whether you are from India or Bangladesh.
I arrived on a day which was 2 days before their Grand Opening, still not only they welcomed us heartily in their set-up but also offered us options of customizing the food as per our choice. This is a huge point to note that, they are welcoming to customise the food options with mixtures and core ingredients however a customer want.
We ordered Paratha, Puri, mix veg and Veg Fried rice. All were superb tasty savouring the essence of Homely Made Bengali taste. I was worried as it was first time that my Tigrian wife was trying authetic Indian made food, and to my joy, she loved it as much as any native will.
And price??? That is unbelievably low compared to any other restaurant there, let alone the interstellar price other so called Indian restaurants charge in Egypt .
The location and the ambience also as I found before opening was minimalistic and beautiful.
Therefore, I would give them my highest recommendation and a pledge of coming back...
Read moreWe visited Indo Bangla Restaurant in Cairo yesterday evening. It’s a tiny place with extremely poor service — they can’t even manage to serve proper cutlery. Many of the items we ordered were never brought to our table. That, we were willing to let go. After a long wait, when food finally arrived, not a single item was what we had actually ordered. We had no choice but to eat whatever they served.
The taste was acceptable — that’s the only thing that kept us calm. We asked them to pack some items, including chicken rolls, to take to the airport. But what followed was absolutely outrageous.
While eating the chicken roll at the airport, I suddenly felt something sharp stuck in my throat. It was extremely painful, and I was terrified. After managing to spit it out, I discovered that there were broken pieces of a toothpick inside the roll. My husband found the same thing in his roll too. Thankfully, I warned him in time.
Let’s leave everything else aside — what kind of criminal negligence is this? Toothpicks inside packed food? Were you trying to kill someone? Otherwise, how do you explain the exact same thing in both rolls?
If I had died from choking on that toothpick, would your restaurant have taken responsibility? I seriously doubt it. This is beyond careless — this is dangerous, unforgivable, and absolutely disgusting.
If I had the time, I would’ve taken this matter to the authorities without a second thought. You don’t deserve to run a food business if you can’t ensure basic customer safety. I demand an answer.
I have the pictures if anyone...
Read moreWhat an absolute delight to have food here.
We had our dinner on two consecutive nights.
on the first night, we visited the restaurant. From our place at Zamalek, this was approx 20.mins away - Uber 80 UGP. We ordered around 810 pm.
The food took a lot of time to come - it tested our patience. Finally, we got it at 915 pm.
We had ordered, Rice, Daal, Mix veg sabji, Egg curry, chicken curry and 3 kinds of Bharta - potato, Brinjal and Tomato.
And then there was absolute silence. We were just eating. We forgot everything else for the next 15 minutes.
Best Bengali food eaten in a restaurant - ever.
The food was perfect - less oil, properly seasoned and perfectly balanced spices.
The more we ate, more appreciations flowed. We were a group of 6 - 3 senior citizens, a child and 2 adults. 4 of us are good cooks and we couldn't find a single flaw in their food.
Lovely. Thanks Tahdin and Mahmudji.
If you are in Cairo, want to taste authentic Bengali food, do check out this place.
Tips: If you want to have fish or goat mutton, you need to inform them by first half of the day.
Always call them beforehand. They also do home delivery. Delivery is better than dining in - saves money in Uber.
Keep some buffer time in hand. If you need the food at 9, better order by 6 for home delivery or reach the restaurant by 7 for dining in.
Oh and last but not the least, they are dirt cheap for the amount of food that...
