We recently visited La Poire Café for breakfast and had a mixed experience. On the positive side, the café has a beautiful ambiance, with a pleasant atmosphere and relaxing music. The staff were friendly and welcoming, making us feel comfortable from the start. The food presentation was elegant, and there was a good variety of options, not just for breakfast but also for lunch and dinner. When we received the bill, we were pleasantly surprised that the prices were very reasonable, especially considering the central location. Most importantly, the food was delicious and enjoyable.
However, there were some noticeable drawbacks. The menus did not have prices, which made ordering a bit inconvenient. The service flow was not well-organized—desserts arrived before the actual breakfast and coffee, and only after we asked for it to be corrected. Some guests at our table were missing cutlery and placemats, and we were served in a chipped glass. Additionally, empty plates were not cleared promptly, and the windows were dirty, which slightly affected the overall impression. The furniture also seemed worn-out and chipped, making the place feel a little less polished. The coffee was cold, and the café did not offer a good menu for kids, which could be a downside for families.
Overall, La Poire Café has a lot of potential with its great food, friendly service, and beautiful setting. However, improvements in service organization, cleanliness, and attention to detail would make it a much...
Read moreCame for dinner has it looked like a popular place for tourists. There’s a security dude at the front with an x-ray machine and metal detector, although he seemed only concerned with the locals entering the place. Perhaps I just look mostly harmless. Inside the cafe is a very modern looking interiors that would not look out of place in Europe. The interiors look spotless and the staff are all professionally dressed. The cafe has seating over two floors, although the upper floor is certainly quieter, it’s also up two flights of stairs.
The have a great looking selection of European style desserts, and typical European style coffee options, plus juices and soft drinks. I order an orange juice and Fusilli Vegetables. The orange juice was great, no question about it being freshly squeezed. It took a full 40 minutes from ordering to getting my pasta. I honestly wondered if they were making the pasta from scratch. The pasta actually tasted quite nice, with vegetables including artichokes, peppers, olives. There was a layer of oil on the plate by the time I finished the pasta. My main complaint was that there was too much oil on the pasta and I’m just one of those people who feel nauseous at the sight of...
Read moreWould actually give it 3.5. Location is great, Tahir Square. We had two nice Flat white coffees, le40 each. I had a strawberry smoothie but it wasn't from fresh juice. Tasted processed. Hubby had the Tropical smoothie which was nicer, le43 each. I had Fettuccine which was ok, le75. The chicken was tender but the overall dish was under seasoned so a bit bland. He had the beef medallions. He liked the sauce, quite tasty but the meat was too chewy. He asked for rare but it was well done. Le175, not worth it. We returned the next day for breakfast. Shakshuka is very tasty although the eggs were over cooked. The yokes were very solid. The scrambled eggs with toast was nice. On another occasion we had the croissant with beef and cheese. Really really liked that so that became our breakfast with coffee each day. Obviously we came here a few times, the location was perfect for our needs. We're definitely intending to come back to La Poire because we like it and the place is nice with good service. Recommend...
