InterContinental Cairo Semiramis by IHG — Hotel in Cairo

I booked a tour to the Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum through the hotel concierge service. We were a family of four, and each ticket cost 6,600 EGP. In total, I paid 26,400 EGP (approximately $530).

While I was aware that other tour companies offered similar packages at nearly half the price, I chose this service expecting a high-quality experience. Unfortunately, the tour provided fell significantly short of expectations.

The hotel subcontracted the tour to an external agency, which assigned us a guide who had poor English proficiency, making communication difficult. Although the guide managed adequately during our visit to the Pyramids and the Sphinx, the experience at the museum was unacceptable. Upon reaching the gallery, the guide left us to explore on our own. Assuming that guides were not permitted inside the museum gallery, we didn’t insist on his company. However, once inside, we observed other guides actively explaining the history and significance of the artifacts to their groups.

As a result, our visit to the gallery felt incomplete and uninformative, as the artifacts we saw were just objects to us without any context or historical background.

When I raised my concerns with the hotel concierge service, they offered a 15% refund on the museum portion of the tour. I found this response deeply disappointing and inadequate. It failed to acknowledge the gravity of the situation or the investment we made—not just in this tour but in the overall trip. Traveling from the USA, we spent several thousand dollars on airfare, accommodation, food, and other expenses, and this experience did not align with the expectations set by the premium...

I was happy in my stay. the moment I arrive the staff take care and welcome. The room was very nice and I had a beautiful Nile view. Our experience started when we arrived in the 18th Floor with a private check-in. From there on everything was perfect, everything felt right, from the check-in our spacious room, the food and of course the lovely staff. They are so friendly, welcoming and very helpful, making us feeling at home during every encounter with them.

We enjoyed the Club Lounge most. Overlooking the Cairo Nile providing a panoramic and breathtaking view on Nile,s skyline from the 19th floor. The sumptuous food provided combined with the beautiful and lovely smiles which matched the brilliant and attentive service.
