The Drive — Restaurant in Cairo

A relatively new place in Fifth Settlement Area. Place is located on Ring road. Place is top notch. All the restaurants offer Drive thru Experience and all restaurants are designed as Cabinet designs. There are marvelous drawings on most of the walls and the overall architecture of the place makes you very delighted. Most of restaurants/cafés are open air , although some offer indoor areas upstairs. Prices are higher than average. Didn't try all the restaurants but BRGR's food was really recommended and turned out to be very delicious. Mood of the place is really cool and is suitable for Mornings and Evenings. Place is very crowded on Weekends so that some of the places have to close their Drive thrus and only families are allowed (this doesn't happen usually though). The Drive is meant to be a drive-through restaurant area with several fast-food restaurants made up of empty shipping containers. However, it is a very impractical and failed project since there isn't enough "drive-way" available to cater to all those restaurants.

The result is utter chaos.

Unruly parking, rowdy drivers and incompetent, self-proclaimed valets have turned the entire area into a traffic nightmare. Whoever is coming for whatever business finds themselves stuck for scores of minutes in traffic mayhem. As is common in Egypt, the would-be fluid four-lane roads are turned into parking places on either side and the remaining middle lane is used to squeeze the traffic through. And anyone breaking that line causes a complete traffic jam.

I don't understand how one can enjoy a snack or a drink after having been through that mess.

Unless you are walking there on foot, I recommend staying away if your time and property are...
