The Tap East — Restaurant in Cairo

I go here every now and then Sometimes with girls Sometimes alone Getting in these places as a single guy used to be a nightmare as there is profiling which is really understandable as there are a lot of weirdos that are not part of the clique.

Thankfully management are nice and friendly to people who are nice and respectful and it’s easy to get in on this basis if you’re a single guy.

Outdoor venue is great and open air.

Pros: Sangria is fantastic Variety of chicken wings each enjoyable Burgers are great Quesadilla fantastic loved the Egyptian touched homemade taste Live outdoor music is nice and mellow I always find the front door person very nice and friendly and never had any problems unlike what others have stated. It’s all about acting respectful and NOT entitled and spoiled as most are acting today.

Cons It’s hard to get staff attention most of the time. It’s you and your luck if there is eye contact so usually have to yell which I hate doing. Need to introduce iPads on the tables to make orders. We are in 2022. Or just go back to 1911 and get a bell for each table haha.

Weekends during the day there are kids. Actual primary school entitled kids with their parents. I dislike kids who run around and around and around the wooden deck that the whole place vibrates while you are tipsy. Makes you feel like you’re on a boat waving with the sea.

Kids should be allowed inside with their parents but should be reminded of etiquette and protocol in a bar. Staff let this point slide. Less selfishness and disregard of your kids and more caring to other customers ya parents!!!

Gone there for a birthday party. I was in shorts and sandals and I still looked pretty classy in the outfit. They refused me entry at the door claiming it was house rules. I played ball went to a friends place nearby changed into pants and put on shoes. Went back only to find people with shorts in the place. What kinda scum is this!

I guess it s an entitlement crisis across the country where these clubs, nouveau riche or wannabees have you jump thru hoops to prove their places or business are worth anything. Beer was mostly lukewarm. Service was sluggish. Music was fine yesterday I gotta give it to them. Food was ok. I ordered a medium rare steak and it was not half bad.

But the attitude, the pretention, even of some of the waiters. I have been to the top places in cairo, the classiest. I get way better treated than this lowliness I have seen yesterday. At one point I ask for the owner s number to try to convince them not to send back home in shorts cuz I wasnt going back again and the bouncer replies " it s not allowed" so condescendingly. Same people standing at the door would not last 5 minutes before me in an interview should they seek a position in my company. My chauffeur is more qualified than these two.

This place is really so bad, the worst experience ever. We had a reservation but they told us that there is no places and it's first come first served which makes the reservation meaningless. After 5 mins we found that there is free tables in the open air area. Service is sooooo bad. Waiters are not polite and their behaviors are very strange and they looks unprofessional, one of them even cannot open his eyes and the other one is talking alot seems to be drunk or not conscious. One of them even cannot open his eyes. Just behind our table in the staff area, waiters were fighting in a loud voice with insults and bad words that hurts our ears. Waiters also were flirting with guests and ladies. At least when the waiter brings us the check he was telling his colleague to go to table 52 but in hidden way , I don't know what they want from this table to be that secret. We asked for ketshup but waiter brings us an empty bottle of ketshup and he tries to put us the last 2 drops of ketshup in the bottle. There was a live music but speakers were very bad and some other music was playing in the background at the same time. I think it's the worst experience ever and this place...
