The Tap South — Restaurant in Gamsha

Last night, I had the privilege of visiting The Tap. I ordered their so-called “Wagyu” burger. Spoiler alert: if that was Wagyu, then I’m the King of England. It was closer to “mystery meat surprise” than anything remotely Wagyu. Honestly, calling that Wagyu is fraud with extra cheese.

Then came the Olympic sport of trying to pay my bill. I walked up to the bar, thinking I’d hand over my money like a normal human being. Nope. The waiter – who looked allergic to effort – informed me he “can’t split the bill” and that I should go run around and sort it with my friends myself. Oh sure, let me just turn into their accountant for the night. Maybe I should print invoices and set up a spreadsheet too?

When I reminded him that maybe, just maybe, it’s his actual job to take payments, he summoned the manager. Fantastic, right? Wrong. The manager was basically his evil twin, delivering the exact same nonsense. It was like a live performance of “How to Be Useless 101.”

Now, let’s talk prices. Outrageous doesn’t even begin to cover it. They’re charging European fine-dining money for the culinary equivalent of a sad drive-thru. And then, just to add insult to injury, there’s a 14% service charge. Service charge for what? For waiting 15 minutes until someone noticed I exist? For the waiter who treated me like I was interrupting his nap? For being told to go do his job for him? Wow. What a bargain.
