After reading Google reviews for highly rated restaurants, we decided to try La Cantina. We ordered Nachos, Cheesy Beef Tacos, and a 300g Camel Steak, along with a Long Island Iced Tea cocktail. Unfortunately, the cocktail did not taste good, which was a disappointing start.
The Nachos arrived next and were underwhelming. The portion was very small, the nachos themselves were thin and rubbery, and they had very little topping. Overall, it was a cold, rubbery, bland experience. At this point, I was starting to worry, but looking around I saw other mains that looked appealing, so we decided to overlook the Nachos and hope for a better main course.
The Tacos, however, were also disappointing. They were almost empty, served cold, and bland in flavour. The bare minimum expectation was for the "cheesy beef tacos" to at least have some cheese in them (see image). Finally, the Camel Steak arrived. The hot stone was brought to the table with a nice-looking cut of steak. This is where things became very strange. The waiter put a bib on my partner and then decided to cook the steak himself, unfortunately butchering it in the process. Despite asking him to stop three times, he continued until another diner intervened in Arabic and told him to stop. By then, the steak was cooked well done. We very clearly requested a rare steak.
When we politely raised the issue with the waiter, it was handled poorly. We were left waiting at the table for five minutes, so we eventually approached the manager ourselves. We agreed to pay for the food and drinks we had...
Read moreSadly after sharing this post i have to add a very negative review ... i tried to book a table for a birthday party .... we would've been eating and drinking and had not planned to go anywhere else. All was well until we wanted to bring our own cake ..... they wanted to charge us £300 egyptian. So greedy so they lost thousands Not recommened anymore . ......Visited here on 16th May 2023 with a group of friends. The menu had a varied choice. Although it could be clearer as to exactly what is a main course. The food was really tasty. We all enjoyed everything we had. We were given some welcome food (crispy mushrooms), which was a pleasant surprise. The menu prices do reflect the portions sizes, which were larger than we expected, so a lot of us had takeaways. The service was excellent, very attentive but not annoying. Our only issue was warm beer, but we were then given ice buckets, which kept it cold. We were all given our separate checks and no one had any issues as they reflected correctly what each of us had. Generally, there are mistakes in a lot of restaurants, but not here. I would recommend a visit to La Cantina. We will definitely...
Read moreSeptember 2024: I went to this place specifically so my friend can experience Mexican food. The place is clean and Tru to Mexican spirit. The staff is polite and very helpful. We ordered cheesy Nacho's and chicken quesadillas. They don't have nachos with beef or chicken. The nachos bowl was nicely decorated but the taste was far away from original nachos. Truth to be told, Nacho's is an American invention,I have never seen it in Mexico. The cheese was some yellow colored sauce far away from what you can call cheese. It has a variety of side sauces like BBQ sauce and some green onion and cilantro sauce. It was anything but what nachos should be. I give it 4/10. The chicken quesadillas came with french fries 😳. Quesadilla tasted ok. Again, the lack of authentic cheese makes the taste barely similar to the original Mexican quesadilla. I Give it 6/10 , The menu was large and filled with crowd pleasers like burgers and the like. Prices were slightly higher than it should due to the place being in...
