We came across this restaurant while touring the new national library in San Salvador. It’s up on the top floor where they have the observatory area. So glad we stopped in for dinner! Everything about it was excellent.
First, we were greeted by a gentleman who explained the food offerings and that they could accommodate a gluten allergy. We were seated immediately on this night but I bet it gets busy on weekends.
The food is all prepared fresh. I recommend considering the rotating specials. I had the salmon and it was absolutely delicious. All the food was. The drinks too, though we all had the basil lemonade to rave reviews.
Our server, René was friendly and attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. At one point a gentleman who appeared to be the owner came by the table to clear some plates and ensure we had everything we needed. It was nice to see a team effort within the restaurant.
This establishment is family friendly but also appropriate for singles and couples of all ages. It’s a nice way to spend several hours at this location because the library itself offers a lot to see and do.
Overall, our family loved and we plan to visit again! Thanks for the...
Read moreWe visited in July and, just like our last visit, the food and service was absolutely outstanding from beginning to end! I am a New Yorker and have had my share of Italian restaurants....yet Basilico has the very BEST Italian food ever! My family and I couldn't help giving each other frequent nods of culinary approval throughout our meal. From the appetizer down to dessert and coffee, it was all fresh and delicious. Our server Ronald Reyes was kind, patient, lovely and attentive throughout, making our experience just pleasant. He made sure we had everything we needed and knew just when to check in. He deserves recognition for his exemplary service. The atmosphere and decor is high quality and relaxed- not to memtion that it sits atop of the beautiful Biblioteca Nacional. The background music was a pleasant 80"s tune. Do yourself a favor and make your taste buds happy by making Basilico one of your go to places in El Salvador!! You'll be writing a 5...

This American/Italian spot really surprised me—in the best way. I ordered the Toscana Burger, and it was amazing! Full of flavor, cooked perfectly, and they were more than happy to accommodate my request to swap out the grilled onions for raw ones. That kind of flexibility is rare and so appreciated.
Our waiter, Ronald Reyes, was a highlight of the night. He's a kind, elderly gentleman who made us feel right at home—attentive, warm, and genuinely caring. If you visit, definitely ask for him! He made the whole experience even more enjoyable.
The food came out quickly and everything was fresh and delicious. The atmosphere is fancy without being stuffy—chic, but still comfortable and relaxed.
Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area. You...
