Eesti Pubi Ruuni — Restaurant in Tartu linn

In almost 5 years living in Tartu this has been my son’s favourite restaurant. He is now 11. Unfortunately something seems to have gone seriously wrong. First we were served completely undrinkable red house wine. Probably the bottle had been open for a month or more. When we said it was not right and suggested the host might try it we were very reluctantly given replacement glasses of an OK house red. The food too was a great disappointment and we joked that it was the cleaner instead of the chef in the kitchen. The salmon was dry, overcooked and almost burnt, and the speciality mince, cheese and potato dish was swimming in fat. Sadly we will not be going back. I wonder how this place manages to stay open with such poor service. The interior is crude and looks unfinished, the tables are dirty and scratched. Language skills of the waitress were low. Some of the items listed in the menu aren't even in stock. Waited around 30 minutes for the food, but i guess it could have been worse. The food wasn't really good, but not terrible. On the other hand, the "hot chicken salad" was completely cold, a dish, which was supposed to have pork in it maybe had three teaspoons of minced pork. If you break a glass they'll make you pay 5 eur for it. Haven't heard of something like this in any other pub or restaurant. It didn't even fall to the ground, I accidentally tipped it over on the table and it broke right away. Fortunately I already drank my cocoa, so the glass was empty, so I picked up the pieces of glass. No one else had to do any extra cleaning because of me. The glass looked very cheap and probably was if it breaks so easily. Never going to buy anything from this place anymore, I regret buying that one cocoa, which ended costing me 9 eur.
