Sadly, the "coziest" cafe in the town is not anymore up to standards. The food is great, but the service is super slow and inattentive for the last years that I don't come here much anymore.
Right now we were sitting 10+ minutes at the dirty table and two staff people I told about it looked at me with ignorance "what do you want from me?" and didn't answer much. The people on the photo, with small kids, were standing more than five minutes in the middle of the cafe and the waiters were passing by them many times without asking or telling them anything. People took the menus themselves and after continued ignorance from the staff, just left.
One would think that there are not enough staff for the guests on the weekend? But mind me, they aren't in a hurry. They are very, very slow, taking their time. Management: Saturday lunch time, nice weather, aren't you expecting to have visitors to have enough staff? Is it acceptable to chaise waiters to clean our table (btw, I must explain: cleaning also consists of wiping the table of crumbs! Not just putting the menus on the dirty table after removing mugs)?
The previous time I was here, the cafe was almost empty and it was impossible to get anything from the waiters, they were just chatting in their corner and not rushing to bring the menus or take the order. ... It's been 20 minutes now that we sit at the dirty table and no one took the order. The restaurant is half empty now, waiters and waitresses aren't be found around. ... With so many new and great restaurants in Tartu, Crepp, what are you doing? Very, very sad.
(below is the draft of my review from years ago, it was 5 stars, btw)
Large portions and very cousy/romantic atmosphere. Try their salmon...
Read moreWe came to Crepp as a group of seven people. Just as we asked the personnel where we could sit (in Russian), one of the waiters rudely responded (in Estonian) saying that he neither understands nor speaks Russian. Which is totally fine, however could have been said in a different, more friendly manner. We occupied two tables next to each other and when the waiter came up to us to take the order, we asked for two separate bills as we were two families. This caused confusion straight away because not everyone was physically sitting at the same table. Then, it turned out that one out of our two tables HAS TO be served by another waiter, which is ridiculous because we were just a big group all together. The other waiter took the order after the first one, however the food for the second family arrived 10-15 minutes later (drinks were also brought considerably later) after I had to go and complain. We didn't quite understand the trick with basically one table being served by two waiters and then the food being ready with a 15 minute difference. I must say that the food was very nice, however this unprofessional and rude customer service ruined the overall picture. Therefore, I...
Read moreI tried both delivery and dining in at this place. For delivery, I ordered a tuna salad, which was very tasty, filling and rather like a bowl with different ingredients, I really enjoyed it. For dessert, I got a crepe with cherries, chocolate spread and ice cream. It was good that the ice cream was packed separately in a small cup. The crêpe was delicious, but more like a full dish on its own. When I visited the restaurant, I ordered a galette with oven-baked salmon, cream cheese and leek. It was quite filling, but I didn’t really like the taste, it was too bland and there was too much leek, which didn’t go well with other ingredients. As well I had ginger and cinnamon tea, which was very good. Overall, the food can be good depending on what you order. The interior didn’t leave much of an impression, very simple, so I’d probably go for...
