We had an absolute blast in Pompei!

We were a group of 7 people and we came for dinner 20/06. We never got dinner, we got an experience.

It starts from the first second you walk in the restaurant: warm smiles, awesome music, great ambience and an epic square table for us all to fit, see each other and share the food. We had Pompei’s set menu and the price-quality balance is excellent. The dishes smelled, looked and were crafted exceptionally. The set menu had many variations of tastes, awesome surprises and treats, meat and fish, salty and sweet. The service was awesome! You can see how the team is calibrated and supports each other like a fine clock-work. The water arrived seconds after we sat down. Welcome drinks came shortly after and just when you thought that you are ready to get something in your belly, the focaccia was on the table. Our server had a great knowledge about everything we were served and he was very open to ask if our questions got quite specific (which they totally did). We were taken care of, we were welcome, we were part of this restaurant. The buzzing kitchen, awesome vibes, great music, friendly staff, great light. We came for dinner, but we got the experience. Thank you very much for the team, who were flexible to receive and take good care of us. Thank you for an excellently crafted menu.

Pompei meeskond, aitäh Teile! Te olete osa millestki väga võrratust. Kindlalt tulen tagasi, kindlalt soovitan...

The waiters have always been really attentive. My past visits have included great culinary experiences as well, but this time the food was a let down. Pasta with mushrooms was tasty, but can't be considered truly amazing. It was really good, though. My husband ate pasta with beef ragout which was a bit too salty, but otherwise a bit lacking in flavours. We also tried the salad leaf appetizer which sounded interesting, but was a total disappointment. I don't think I've ever had anything quite as bad before except maybe an experiment or two in the kitchen by my 10-year-old son that went really wrong. As to the ambience - everything was fine until a guy started yelling and "performing" on the street just across the restaurant. That totally ruined the atmosphere. Unfortunately, from what we could hear and see, this performance tends to be a regular thing during summer. I get it that they can't really do much about it, but it still cut our visit short. So all together I'd say that the food was too expensive for the quality offered and the atmosphere was questionable. The service was the only positive thing this time and if I considered it one of my favourite restaurants in Tartu before this visit then I really don't think I want to be going back there any time soon...

Been there before and had a good experience, also some friends have said good things about this place. First glance at the menu whilst booking assured me that there were few plant based dishes and vegans could find something to eat too. After all, it is 2022. So when we arrived we asked our lovely waitress to explain what could we have from the menu as nothing was marked separately (at the moment it seems that usually gluten and lactose free and vegan items are marked in menus). She pointed out some main and side dishes, all of them had something like ndjua, lardo or bernaise that wasn't vegan, but we asked whether those could be left out. It was a busy Friday night so some time had passed when she finally got back to us and started explaining that everything had some non-vegan ingredients.... Basically we could have olives and potatoes if I remember right. I have not seen such inability to accommodate or be flexible towards vegans for a long time, even in Estonia. Waitress tried to be lovely, but I felt the message from the kitchen was "get those vegans out and fast". I eat out a lot and my friend works in an industry so in comparison to other places inability to accommodate was...

The food was absolutely divine. I have been to Italy many times and this is one place where I absolutely felt the food was made with the same love and attention to detail. As a starter we had some olives and smoked almonds, they were so so good, it’s hard to find good olives and these were amazing. We had the cacio e pepe pasta and it was perfect, every part of the ingredient complimenting each other. The grilled focaccia is a must, so much flavour! The wine recommendation our server gave us paired perfectly with everything. The tiramisu blew us away, it was so so so amazing. I don’t remember when or where I have gotten better tiramisu. I would come back just for the tiramisu. The service was even more amazing, everyone was warm and friendly. It was my best friend’s birthday and I had wrote in the reservation asking for a candle with the dessert. Not only did they put a candle, they sang for her too!!! The whole experience was so good my soul and heart are smiling because of the food and the people working here. Will definitely come back and I seriously recommend everyone to come here!!!

The restaurant is located in the centre of Tartu. Pleasant interior, quite fabulous. Waited a while to get seated. But then waitresses kinda ignored us and we took the menu ourselves. When ordering, the waitress recommended to get the dishes for sharing. Would recommend sharing, to be honest. The portion is not huge, not the best choice when there are three of you. Tasting a bit only. The pesto & pistachio pasta was really interesting, cause pistachios added some sort of crispiness. The other type with pecorino was not to our taste, good to try once and never order again, quite trivial. Lazagne was the most amazing dish there, basic yet surprising, it had some unknown mysteries, for sure. Tiramisu was also good, fully homemade, that's what I truly appreciate. Again, quite a disaster in terms of service. Overall, the dishes were quite trivial, nothing that special. We were left with this awkward feeling when, you know, the experience was okay'ish, but you would not come back if you had an opportunity.

We booked a table for 20.00 on a Wednesday night. We wondered if we really needed them or not, but found the restaurant quite full on arrival. We ordered some of the house made cheeses for starters, but our waiter soon returned to our table apologizing that the last of burrata had just been sold. Would have liked to try it, so we'll just have to return another time! The farmers cheeses and jam were a fine replacement though and the beef tartar was very delicious. We had the squid and mussels for the mains. Both were very nice dishes and cooked extremely well. My only complaint about them was the side of fries with the mussels could have been a bit larger. There was tons of the delicious 'nduja sauce but not enough fries to dip into it. Overall we had a very enjoyable experience. Our waiter (who I wish I had gotten the name of) was excellent and made the visit very positive. Highly recommend here for a visit. Reasonably priced as well
