A taste of a Porto tasca in the heart of Helsinki. And this time, we were entitled to an early São João celebration. Maria João, a certified chef (Parabéns) fired up the charcoal grill and sent us on a trip to the Santos Populares: Sardines on bread (heaven), peppers, potatoes, all in a delicious thread of extra virgin olive oil. For the others our traditional Bacalhau, freshly adapted to the nordic ways, and a the vision of the melted cheese and steamy sause of a Francesinha, to make the evening more Portuense than ever. Read moreVery nice restaurant tucked away from the immediate center of Helsinki. The food was delicious and decently priced (17-25€ for a main dish). I picked the octopus (25€ - don't order if really hungry) and it was really nice.
The customer service however needs some work. The waiters were friendly, but even with the restaurant being empty, getting the bill took two times of asking different people and about 10-15 minutes (too long, when you're ready to leave).
As a bonus feedback - please include some Portuguese craft beers, not only...

The food is delicious, with a particular highlight for the pastel de nata and the polvo à lagareiro. Also has a great program with jazz and fado nights that's definitely worth checking out. Finally, good also for stocking up with Portuguese groceries as the only place in Helsinki where you can find some typical Portuguese products like olive oil and piri piri sauce. Worth a visit for sure, for a little bit of the southwestern feel of Portugal...
