We were expecting this hotel was going to be really good since they have such exceptional high review, and this was one of the best reviewed hotel we stayed in so far. We paid over two hundred euros per night. Location wise is spot on. It is a medium sized functional hotel. We stayed for 5 nights. Standard room with a huge beam right above our bed, our rooms got small windows, unlike the ones facing main road. Clean and tidy room. Staff advised as part of their sustainability policies, one spring water bottle was given - even though for dual occupancy. No fuss - we just requested to have an extra bottle so each of us can have our own bottle to refill the bottle daily. There were no manual and information of the hotel that usually comes in a booklet - like calling room next door, about the hotel facilities, key phone numbers to call etc. Instead we have a welcome letter for previous guest and some leftover magazines from previous stay in guest. Staffs kind of helpful but we were let down few occasions. Their advice and comments are inconsistent at times. During check-in we were not inform that the hotel can provide some services for tourists. Next day we overheard from the reception another staff was giving much helpful information about tourist tips to the guests who were checking in. Asked for morning call twice, they failed to do so. Wrongly informed by one staff about tram line operation hours that there are no trams run early morning. Advised us to book taxi. Later that evening another staff told us we can take tram as early as 6am. That saved us about 30euros. Housekeeping was unpredictable. In two occasions the room was not properly cleaned up. I left small pillows on the arm chair, it was left exactly there. Curtains was left exactly a tiny slot how I left it. Did not replenish all items and we had to call reception. My messy table and Bathroom vanity counter was not properly tidied up. This was apparent because we did not make any complaints but the next day housekeeping (probably by another person) was done properly. Overall it was a disappointing experience. The hotel is just overly-rated...
Read moreThe Indigo is a large modern hotel in the centre of Helsinki.
Situated on Bulevardi and close to the City Park, it’s a short walk to the main shopping centre, railway station and Kauppatori market square and harbour.
Our stay was a leisure break which we enjoyed with a friend. We stayed in room 810 and our friend in 808. Our rooms had lovely south-easterly rooftop views across the city.
The rooms are functional, bright and clean with a good sized bathroom and shower with Aveda toiletries. There is a useful iPhone compatible alarm clock/music dock.
On the ground floor next to reception, a bar and small restaurant are situated to the side, as well as a business centre.
The bar isn't overly comfortable, warm or welcoming. It's functional and offers some local beers too. The reception staff operate the bar during quieter times meaning you have to wait to be served when there are late check-ins.
The breakfast served in the restaurant area was a continental style hot buffet with cereals, fresh fruit, cheeses and cold meats. I asked for poached eggs but was informed they can't make them, contrary to the menu. Omelettes were available to order.
In the basement there’s a small gym and sauna.
My only real criticism was having informed reception that the television in our room wasn’t working, nothing was done about it but then I guess we didn’t spend much time in our room as Helsinki is such a great city to visit! I mentioned this to reception again on check-out but they appeared not to be interested other than mentioning theres a switch in the cupboard that could have...
Read moreWe stayed in the one bedroom suite which was lovely. It was a large, bright room and it was quiet at night. The bed was very comfy with nice pillows. The lounge area had very comfy chairs and sofa.||The bathroom was large with a nice bath and a great rainfall shower and a heated floor which was lovely. There were robes and slippers for comfort.||The mini bar was mainly stocked with alcohol but we spoke to Zimi who kindly arranged for ours to be stocked with more soft drinks and water etc along with the sweet treats which was very much appreciated.||The breakfast was excellent. There was a large selection of cereals, seeds, nuts, fruit and yoghurt. There was multiple types of bread, meats, cheeses, salads and fabulous homemade jams. There were also lots of lovely pastries, cakes and croissants. Additionally there were hot breakfast dishes which you could order e.g. English breakfast, omelettes, French toast etc which were delicious.||However, the highlight for us was the amazing staff. Everyone we spoke to was warm, friendly and extremely helpful. A special thank you to the lovely Alina who looked after us every day at breakfast. Whenever we saw here around the hotel she was always smiling and happy to see you (even when she was off duty she was happy to chat). Zimi and Diana on reception were also very friendly and helped us with all our enquiries. Your staff really are a credit to the hotel and are what sets this hotel above the rest.||The hotel is close by bus and tram links so it is easy to get...
