I had the quintessential Finnish dinner tonight and I was taken to culinary heaven. The smoked salmon soup entree was delightful. Delicate smoky flavour of the perfectly flaky salmon with a dash of dill was a subtle introduction to the evening. The gin drink invented for the 1952 Olympics was a great refresher. The main of succulent reindeer in black current sauce on a celeriac purée accompanied by some orange berries only found in a wild, was a Finnish symphony worthy of Sibelius. Matched with a sensational Tempranillo 2019 (apologies for not remembering the specific vineyard). To finish, I had a fabulous sweet wild blueberry wine. My waiter was very friendly, knowledgeable, and with a perfect balance of timing made my dinner for one a very pleasant event. Needless to say, I’ll be back. Highly...
Read moreI had my first meal in my first visit to Helsinki and it was an extravagant dinner. We didn't make a reservation but there was still a table outside so we could sit in the sun. I ordered a starter, a main dish and dessert. The salad with goat cheese was refreshing and felt like a main dish in itself (at least for my Asian stomach space). The meatballs with mashed potato was an indulgence but I sadly couldn't finish the potato. The sour and fresh berries really help cut through the creaminess of the mashed potato. Thankfully I have separate stomach space for the delicious creme brulee (which thankfully was a small, nice portion). The price is on the more expensive side but I'm aware there are more pricey places in this city. If you stay in the area and feel like treating yourself, this is a...
Read moreI chose this restaurant based on reviews, and far from being disappointed, I was surprised by how good it was! The restaurant employees were very nice, continously attending to our every need. The atmosphere was cozy and professional, perfect for catching up with family. And the food was delicious, both my guests and me were surprised! I ordered first pumpkin soup (13€) as a starter and then the cabbage roll (24€). Both were very nice and filling, and I think I could have just had the roll and I would have been fine. The roll was particularly astounding; I hadn't had such a delicious vegetarian dish ever! Thank you for this evening, and I will sure look forward to...
