Retro Enoteca in Helsinki is a bit pricey but the quality is excellent. I had the salmon 'nduja risotto, which was creamy, flavorful, and nicely balanced with the spicy 'nduja. The mushroom cream pasta was rich and comforting, and the tuna ceviche (fresh tuna with citrus and seasoning) was bright and refreshing — a perfect starter. The staff were friendly and attentive, explaining each dish and making recommendations. The interior is casual and cozy, so it feels less formal than the food suggests, which makes the higher prices a little noticeable but worth it for the flavors. They also accept tips, which isn’t always standard in Finland. Overall, a great spot for high-quality Italian food in Helsinki, especially if you want attentive service and well-prepared dishes.

We both really liked this place - of course, who on earth in their right mind goes to Helsinki for Italian food? A lunatic, or a mad optimist? In fact, the atmosphere was as close as you can get, there were decorative and menu based nice touches, and overall, some delicious food and wine to eat and drink. Sadly as we had a nice concert to go to at 7pm, we only had a single course here, but we did very much enjoy this place. Not long after we arrived, about 25 Finns of all ages, sizes and orientations arrived for what we took to be a family dinner (though it might have been work-related). This added 100 dB to the general noise level, and made it harder for the staff to provide attentive service. None the less, a good outcome.

I had an incredible experience at Retro during my Helsinki visit. Incredibly friendly staff with great wine recommendations. And the food was simply amazing! I had the tuna tartar as a starter. It was very well balanced. The black rice was a surprising treat that really sold the dish. The oxtail ragu was extremely tasty! Would definitely recommend it! I'm not big on desserts but the tiramisu was heavenly as well. Very light with a regreshing hint of lemon. I'll be back next time I'm in town. 🔥

We discovered the restaurant by chance but it did not let us down! From start to finish the service, food and drinks/wine was excellent. We had dinner her twice and tried the Creyfish mezzulune and the oxtail bolognese. Both dishes had a deep comforting taste and very nice presentation. For desert we had the saffron infused pear and the house tiramisu Which both were rich and delightful. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and gave excellent wine pairings for the food. If you visit Helsinki it is definitely worth...
