Let's start from the beginning. We were sold a table in the glow billiards side, as the other side was full. The table had it's UV lights broken, so no glow at all. There were no cues to be found, so when going to ask for them, and waiting, two broken ones were given. So we didn't want to play. When we said we want to leave, a really bad attitude was given by this girl behind the bar. As if she were somebody very powerful and could just discipline her customers at her will. On top of all this, down in the pool area, it smells like sweat VERY strongly all over. Drink prices are astronomical. There's a mandatory entrance fee of 2,5€ per person, for no reason.
This place is beyond ridiculous. Hear this: they KNEW the table lights were broken (admittedly!), but they still sold it to us in the hopes we wouldn't complain. Such low moral these people have!
I can't find one reason why anyone would ever go there, there are so much better pool places even just nearby, like Groovy Town Jack only a couple blocks away. Of course the best one in the town is Corona Bar & Billiards, just they were under renovation right now. Bar Chaplin can only work for very drunken people, which, by the way, it did look like down there at the pool area, with all the shouting, yelling and loud profanities all over. Kinda makes sense for this type of place. Very...
Read moreThis place has quite remarkable history among young adults. It's one of the last footholds of bar billiard and other bar related games. There's quite immense amount of billiard tables here. It's also a bar with relatively decent prices for liquid beverages so it's quite popular among younger adults and students.
This place was founded in the deepest recession in the 1990s here in Finland which was visible in many interior decorating choices all the way to recent years. It has remarkable history among young adults from the 90s.
However recently they renovated especially their ground floor bar area and upper balcony section in order to achieve more modern touch. This new interior look is clearly more appealing for younger customers than old pirate scumbags like me. It looks like a fast food joint bar especially in the ground floor.
Even though this isn't my regular bar to visit it's popular among young adults/students and foreigners. It's cheap and it has lots of room for even bigger groups to hangout which is great.
I recommend this venue if you're looking for cheaper opinion for a bar near the center of Helsinki. This place is a great place to start an evening with your friends especially if you want to play...
Read moreGreat place to play pool, pretty easy to get a pool table even if it's the weekend and there are allot of people playing. Just sit down and grab a beer and wait until it's your turn. You get this kind of a ringing device that goes off as soon as someone returns the pool balls back to the bar. Beer price after 20:00 on Thursday was 6,40€. Before 20:00 the price was 5,50 or something like that. Pretty standard price for bars in the centre och Helsinki. They do have happy hour but it may be different from weekdays to weekends. Yes the pool is expensive. I think something like 16€/hour but still it's great to be able to play pool on a table that is whole and you can choose your own cue...
