Wino, a restaurant nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of Kallio, has become a beloved local gem for me. Living in close proximity to this establishment, I have frequented it often, and each visit has left me thoroughly impressed.
One of the standout features of Wino is their exceptional service. The staff exudes professionalism and a genuine passion for their craft. They possess an extensive knowledge of wines and are always eager to assist guests in finding the perfect pairing. I have always appreciated their helpful recommendations and the delightful sips they offer.
When it comes to the culinary experience, Wino consistently delivers outstanding food. The dishes they serve are nothing short of amazing. From the first bite to the last, I have savored the delectable flavors and impeccable presentation. The restaurant's commitment to quality and attention to detail is evident in every dish they serve.
The interior of Wino exudes a charming ambiance that adds to the overall experience. Although the decor is appealing, I personally find sitting at the bar to be my preferred choice. There's something about the lively atmosphere and the opportunity to engage with the friendly staff that enhances my enjoyment of the restaurant.
Wino has been a staple in the Kallio district for a few years now, and it played a significant role in spearheading the culinary transformation of the area. As one of the pioneers, it has set a high standard for others to follow. I have forged wonderful memories at Wino, and I eagerly anticipate creating many more in the future.

Read moreFor me this place was ok. I can't say much more because it clearly was not for me and people like me. Here's a following rant why.
This establishment is really a good example what has happened to Kallio in the recent years. The whole generation of people has moved away because price of living has gone up so much that it isn't possible to maintain a regular live here. This neighborhood used to be a lively workers district that has a heart and soul. Now it's turning into something which I personally don't appreciate so much.
Fast forward to day when I entered to this wine bar and felt really not belonging here. Everything was really much not for me starting from the service which mentioned words that I had no idea existed.
I have nothing against this place and its service. I suppose it was superb and talented. All points to that maybe. This place felt really upscale and is clearly meant for people who are young adults that make more money than I do. It's really funny to find this establishment next to legendary bar that is famous totally opposite reasons.
This is a fancy dining place that offers superb wines to choose and prices are high. There's talented service which I couldn't appreciate much because I didn't know of the words they use here to describe wines.
So it's a place for young adults who make money, dress well and want to have intellectual skin-deep conversations about matters that contribute global squalor and do nothing to this matter. I want these people to care but they don't need to. The less you have the more you care.
I feel pity for Kallio. It was the greatest part of Helsinki and it's turning into insensitive neighborhood that is only supporting for people who has money in...
Read moreWe were here 4 years ago. So here is the edit for the new review. Old review down below.
We had the 5 course menu with matching wines. The price was ~100€ per person and that is pretty ok price for this kind of a place.
The place has the same awesome atmosphere as last time. I love the scrubby scene they have there.
The service was "pretty ok" at best. It felt like they were only working there: "This is the wine, it's from Spain and this is the grape", nothing more unfortunately. I would love to hear some specs why this wine was picked and what does it give to this food. The wines were really nice anyways!
The food was really good and I loved every dish. Fish for starters, tartar etc. The main course was lovely but quantity of food was very little. The dessert was unfortunately pretty dull. Dessert wine was lovely tho!
I could recommend this place, really! But the service could be more customer oriented and I'm 62kg guy who normally eats very little, and I was still somewhat hungry after 5 course menu. This can have a big negative impact for many customers unfortunately.
With few tweaks this would be very lovely and recommended place to visit!
Old review from 2019: Very very nice and cozy restaurant. Weird and funny wines with the food. Good...
