The Royal Garden — Restaurant in Oulu sub-region

In short : I absolutely recommend this place, and will order again.

I usually avoid Asian food in Finland, but decided to give this place a try after a friend’s recommendation.

We ordered the pork baos and steamed dumplings.

For the first time, I wasn’t disappointed.

The dumplings were exactly what I’d hoped. They were perfectly textured, soft without being soggy, yet offering a nice consistent bite. Flavours were exactly what I’d expect.

The baos were slightly different from what I expected, but very good nonetheless. Despite the filling being very juicy, the buns themselves were intact and firm, and didn’t stick.

I’d ordered two sauces - a sweet chilli and a sriracha, and the order came with a third one, homemade soy sauce with garlic onion and herbs, which was absolutely perfect.

This Chinese restaurant is located right next to the Oulu train station and really close to the city center. The restaurant is very cozy looking and has a cool atmosphere to it. I ordered bull meat in schezuan sauce with rice. It was really good and the size of the meal was good too. But the best thing about it was the presentation. The food was placed above candles to keep it warm and so far this has been the only Chinese place to do it in oulu. The price was okay considering the presentation. Staff was friendly...
