Off the beaten path of the university town of aix en provence is a small but great restaurant la bouche a oreille is such a cute, cozy, delicious spot. Customer service is top notch- super friendly staff who care about the happiness of their customers. I had the lamb stew and my girlfriend had the young chicken. Delicious! The gravy, to die for! The tiny beans, yum! Definitely recommend if you're looking for a home cooked meal in the south of France. the place next door (le cafe de ramus) is empty and if you're sitting outside le bouche, you'll feel sad the neighboring restaurant is so empty, however once you slowly douse your spring chicken in the saucy gravy all your troubles are forgotten. The owners witty banter also helps.
PS this is a true non touristic spot. Come here if you want to hear French people speaking French. You might hear a couple behind you speaking English but give them a break. They're on...
Read moreMy rating is for casual dining. I have been twice, so far and will come again. I recommend this pleasant restaurant in a nice location. It is beautiful sitting at an outside table. Service is enthusiastic and professional. Food is wonderful and prepared skillfully with fresh ingredients. The menu is compact but there is a special dish offered each day.
On one visit I had the special of the day, ris de veau, which was excellent. I have been wanting to try this for a while and enjoyed the dish. The mixture of fresh vegetables was clever. On another visit I had lamb cooked in a filo crust. Wonderful lamb and delicious overall. I added additional photos from another visit, this time for dinner. You can see the cod and the shrimp risotto as well as appetizers. Fantastic...
Read moreWalked by at night and saw the atmospheric restaurant and immediately made a reservation for lunch the next day. This square feels hidden and quiet which is much less touristy feeling than everywhere else in this city. We had the best escargot (which I highly suggest ordering 13 instead of 6) which tastes better than the famous places in Paris. The frog legs starter was also delicious and my 8 month old was in love with the dish. I had the crispy chicken with ginger dip and it was kind of similar to yunnan or Thai chicken which is a little not too french for me. Nevertheless it was very good. We also got the pulled pork spring roll things was good as well. Service was swift and polite, even though there were no english spoken it was a wonderful...
