Madeleines De Christophe depuis 2006 — Restaurant in Aix-en-Provence

Best madeleines in Aix. These were delicious, the flavours were prominent but weren’t overpowering and they were so light, fluffy and fresh. We tried madeleines from other shops in Aix that looked really good but none of them were as good as at Madeleines de Christophe and they were competitively/well prices. I would definitely recommend getting some from here and I will be doing back. The girl who worked there was very friendly as well, so it was all around a good experience. You get them for take away and are great to eat on the spot or to take home for dessert (we did both). These madeleines are way way way better than what they had at La Cure Gourmande! That place lured us in with their pretty shop but we couldn’t eat the madeleines, they were so dry. Definitely go...

The choice of flavors is limited to five or six, but I have never seen all of them available. Very repetitive, never anything new, anyway I used to love these madeleines. However after lockdowns the quality significantly decreased. Several months ago I noticed the madeleines are smaller (even though the price increased) and less aromatic. Anyway, I continued coming from time to time. Yesterday I ordered three praline flavoured, which were so small that flat (!) but good in taste, and three almond flavoured, which were gummy, almost raw inside and I could smell everything but not almonds! I'm very disappointed about what is happening...

Wow!! The first madeleine bakery I've been to, but these were the best I've ever had! You get 6 for 3.50 euros, you can't buy just one. The smell of madeleines wafts down the street so you can't resist! Flavors are nature, orange, almond, chocolate. Their Cannelé de Bordeaux was also incredible. I've lived in Bordeaux and can attest that theirs is well-made; gently crisp but sturdy exterior with a fluffy and chewy center, unlike some others which are dense globs inside. I'm so happy to have stumbled upon this place. The madeleines were still good 2 days later having stored them inside...
