Brasserie d'En Face — Restaurant in Bayeux

Ate here one evening. We weren’t made to feel particularly welcome but thought we’d stay. I had the moules frites in white wine my partner the chicken Caesar salad. I’ve rated the food 3 stars because he really enjoyed the salad. The moules were almost inedible though. They were extremely salty with no wine that I could taste. While there a couple sat next to us and asked that no tomato be added to one of their burgers. This was refused and the couple left with no regret at all shown. My partner had tarte normande to follow. This was almost burnt and he had to use a knife to cut it. Meanwhile perfectly baked ones were sent to other tables. No appreciation of our custom when we left. Best food we had there during our visit was La Petit Plage away from the seafront. Ate there twice delicious steak one night and perfect moules on another. Service was excellent and friendly. Please try the Petit Plage and don’t be put off by its modest appearance. It was always full when we were there and people were coming in to book for...

We wanted to try the local eateries and wanted to give this a go. The restaurant was empty but to be honest it was close to closing times. The staff turned away people and it made us feel rushed. The food was good though; my wife has the mussels and I had the burger. This place was the only place I visited who asked how I'd like my burger cooked so that was a good sign. The prices were reasonable and the restaurant was clean and tidy, but would have liked more of an ambience. We understand that its a heavily tourist area and, having worked in places like these here in England, tourists can get on your nerves, and we tried to fit in but being English, we felt judged... even though this is based on Gold Beach, a British D-Day beach which my grandfather landed on.. so a bit of respect could've been shown.

As a French person this place is a total trap tourist. Nothing is fresh. Frozen food recooked. No taste at all. I don’t understand where all the good comments came from. The black rice was untenable because it wasn’t cooked. When I mentioned it to the waitress, she answered: oh sure “of course it’s cooked! That’s how black rice tastes like!“ Hum I’ve never tasted black rice that bad in my life. I insisted her to check again. And she came back saying ah yes it wasn’t well cooked. Well I told you! The baby squid was bad too it tastes like very plain and you can tell it’s was frozen not fresh at all. Anyway, nothing was good except the extra fries she offered to replace the un cooked rice..
