DODIN Biarritz — Restaurant in Bayonne

Lovely views of the sea, friendly staff. I ordered the pâté basque as it’s a regional delicacy (I’m told) but it arrived just a popped tin can with discolored lard and bits inside. It was not something I could stomach. I asked immediately and politely that it be taken back as I couldn’t eat it. Again, I’ve worked in service most of my life, I hate sending things back, but I just couldn’t stomach this. I was asked to pay for it immediately as they couldn’t serve it again (which I understand... but it was an opened can- it may not have been even freshly opened for me.) a disappointment as I went to grand plage each day of my trip and wanted a snack but couldn’t go...

On a 24 hour visit to Biarritz en route to an attempt on the Camino, I took a stroll down to the seafront in search of a bite to eat.

I’d been recommended a restaurant, but it was set back a couple of streets from the beach, so I headed back to find a spare seat wherever I could, which happened to be Dodin.

What a treat it was - an unbeatable location as the sun set between the rocks offshore, with prompt and friendly service, tasty local food and bier, and a calm assured ambience.

It was topped off by the waiter recognising my club’s logo and having a chat about it.

Una pena que un establecimiento con esta ubicación, tenga un servicio y una higiene tan lamentable. El mostrador pegado a la puerta del baño, cada vez que se abría la puerta salía un olor nauseabundo de el. Si entrabas, era un horror lo que te encontrabas dentro. (No voy a especificar) pero los pies pegados, con de todo por el suelo. Creo q cuando un local hostelero si tiene un baño a compartir, deberían de vigilar la higiene mucho más. "si querian servirnos mal, lo hicieron genial". Solo la ubicación justifica que este local siga abierto. El servicio: peor imposible, 1 hora de espera. Solicitamos mesa, nos colocaron sin limpiarla, llevando un rato esperando decidimos pedir en mostrador, después de hacer fila nos dicen q nos atienden en mesa, volvemos a esperar otro buen rato; no se acercaba nadie, volvemos al mostrador a decirlo, y nos manda a una chica, hacemos el pedido, se va y nunca más volvió. Volvemos a pedir servicio 😔 viene otra chica, y nos coge el pedido. Después de 10 min más, la vemos irse del trabajo y sin servirnos 🤦(yo ha estas alturas me hubiera ido, pero no me dejaron).......vamos a la barra y hacemos el pedido: ya nos atendieron allí por las caras que teníamos. Como he dicho, más de 1 hora de espera, al final el agua de 75cl. a 5,85€ nos la tuvimos q beber de pie por qué se iba el autobús, el resto para llevar. (Cafés mal servidos, sin...
