AVANTI — Restaurant in Bonneville

We visited in August 2024 as a family, and would like to say that there has been a huge improvement in the quality of the menu and the options available for both adults and children (since our last visit in February 2024, which we gave 2-star review).

Good: Much wider selection of food and drinks for adults and children Excellent presentation of food and delicious range of Mediterranean cuisine which is a nice alternative to the mostly traditional Haute Savoie restaurants in town. Beautiful restaurant and outside terrace, perfect for a summer evening Spacious and well designed. A more relaxing and luxurious experience than many of the restaurants in town that are often cramped with too many tables

Bad: Speed/quality of service could still be improved as it is a little inconsistent, especially as the restaurant isn’t that busy Perhaps some more “simple” options for children. I booked online for a Sunday evening. When we got to the hotel the bar was closed for pre dinner drinks. On being seated at the restaurant we were informed that only pizzas were available. One of our party was gluten intolerant but we were met with a shrug and no offer of anything gluten free. As a result we had to leave and go elsewhere for dinner. On leaving we complained at the hotel reception to be told that the restaurant and bar were not connected to the hotel. As a 4star hotel it may be worth letting guests know that the bar and restauarant are not available every day. Booked for Monday evening (yesterday), on arrival we’re told only pizza and a few starters were available. No explanation as to why we had not been told in advance or what the issue was. Very little choice for our vegan friend. First pizza arrived with cheese on, second pizza arrived with anchovy, third pizza was finally ok. Starters of hummus and aubergine caviar had clearly been prepared hours earlier and were not great. Why cannot a restaurant in such a hotel manage to serve the full menu each day??
