ÉDOUARD VINS ET COMESTIBLES — Restaurant in Bordeaux

An unpleasant experience where the hygiene levels were mediocre and the food was terrible.

The bartender was obviously sick and was sneezing several times into his hands, no tissue, then cleaning his nose with his bare hands, and never washing them! We were shocked to watch this during 15minutes, until he served us our wine, holding the glasses with his fingers on the inside of the wine glasses! We told the owner, and all that he did was say: okay I will serve you the wine by myself!

The food arrived 45 mins after our order, the salmon was dry and the vegetables were soaking with water! The Saint Jacques and the gambas were clearly frozen- very dry and overcooked.

We didn’t finish our meals, nor drink our wine, and decided to leave in the middle of our meal. The owner didn’t even bother to ask us why we were leaving, and made us pay the full 65€ for this terrible experience; knowing that we told him we won’t continue our meal and will leave before the dessert (and he could see we almost ate nothing) he made us pay for the dessert as well!!!

Honestly, we tried to explain to him at the moment of the Bar-man experience, so he was well aware we were not happy.

We were visiting here from the United States and wanted to sit and have a nice meal out on the patio. The three of us ordered some French onion soup, and also an appetizer of shrimp. After we eat our soup, they came to take our dessert order without delivering our shrimp. We told them we would like to cancel the shrimp and order dessert, and the manager, or owner, told us that the shrimp are already done, and we had to take them because we ordered them. And then took 10 minutes for them to deliver the “done, shrimp” and they were not cooked properly. They were way over done. They also delivered dessert at the exact same time. Then, when they cleared the plates, because we did not finish the shrimp because they were poorly prepared, the owner or manager, proceeded to chastise us, and yell at us for not finishing the shrimp, and said we shouldn’t have ordered them if we didn’t want them. It was one of the rudest interactions I’ve ever had at a restaurant. The desserts and the French onion soup were very good, but the service definitely left a lot...

Very disappointing experience at Edouard's: we get a table for 2 in the sun and we place the order with the waitress. After a few minutes (5 max) a client requests a curtain to be lowered which sets us in the shade, and we request politely to be moved to a different table. More than 45 minutes pass and our main course still hasn't come, which we request more than twice to the waitress. I stand up to pay what's due and leave, and after some 15 more minutes the full meal comes: my meat (which I had requested well done was rare) and our wines had by then got warm under the sun. When I mention this to the waitress she shrugs as if we were the ones in the wrong; nobody seemed to even care if we hadn't got our food and we were not the only ones! A few more people around us had to wait for more than 30 minutes for their dishes. Better go eat next door, much faster and much...
