Kokomo — Restaurant in Bordeaux

So shocked to receive such a small burger that costs 12euro. Are people nowadays so insensitive to pay for this kind of bobo concept without demanding fair value or good taste? Very supermarket level burger with extremely dry chicken. I don’t eat fast food often but I would say even McDonald’s tastes much better than this. Or anyone who can put a piece of streak/chicken in a pan and stack it between two pieces of pre-warmed bread you buy from supermarket.

If you wanna do bobo and charge a bit more, that’s totally fine. But at least do it better than a mainstream resto/chain. I used to go to Blend in Paris (same bobo burger concept) often, they’re slightly more expensive but at least they’re indeed really good with real homemade ketchup and mayo, and BIG portion. Really fair value and taste.

Plus points: waiters are super friendly. Fried sweet potatoes are good.

Cost: 12euro for a super petite burger, 4.5euro for fried sweet potatoes.

Bonus point for me: at least I know to open a resto like this, the bar is not so high in the market as long as you do some bobo thing. Easy money for an owner, really not worth it...

Its quite small and suffocating. So many people are ordering there and waiters look like they re on speed lol (they have to rush to serve as many people as they can I guess) but they are always polite and helpful. But most time, they dont have time for many other request (especially if you want sauces or you re missing a fork or else), I usually get up to get what I need myself or else I would be waiting forever lol.

But again, it depends what day you are going.

Its a student place. And since Bordeaux is a student town, its mostly full at Lunch during school times and week ends nights are usually packed too.

Back in the day (2015) they had good recipes burgers that I liked very much, especially the blue cheese one. But last times I went (2019-2021) they had changed the recipes and suppressed my favourite ones and burgers tasted more blend.

The cheesy fries are very good. Drinks are good too (they had ginger beer at the time)

Its VERY noisy and quite not intimate at all. But again. Burger place style? I...

Hands down, the best burger we've had since we've been in France. After a year in Bordeaux, we've finally found a place for a burger that's worth returning to (in our opinion). My wife took her first bite and -- literally -- shed a few tears of joy (for we have not had a decent burger in 13 months). High quality beef, cooked exactly how we ordered, seasoned with, as far as I can tell, only salt. Add beautifully cooked fries, a decent beer, and I'm done. Thank you Kokomo for putting a huge, happy smile on our faces. I would suggest a larger, and better, beer selection; however the rest of what we consumed was so good that we'll return, again and...
