Amazing food and amazing fries. We went around 19.30 and we waited for one hour. It was totally worth it. The entrecot is absolutely delicious and the sauce is kind of mustard, lemonish wasabi. Really nice. You have unlimited fries and the plate is quite big. The plate with the meat has 2 little candles below so it keeps it warm. You can take your time with no worries eating your meat. The desserts are delicious too. We had the fruit with Kirsch liquor. Tip: if you only drink water, don't need to order it. The table includes a big bottle of tap water. Bring a jacket because they have the AC turned on. ---------------- Prices 2019 -> Steak + salad + unlimited fries for 19.50€. Just getting in feels like a triumph! There was a line every time I passed so after reading reviews, I thought I had to try this single-dish restaurant. Ie, steak or steak. (No, you do not get a choice of cut or sauce or anything other than 'cuisson' ie the way you like you steak cooked. I chose 'a point' ie medium rare) . I didn't even know how much I would be paying but there were office workers and students so I figured it wouldn't be crazy expensive, and it wasn't, 22€ for the steak and all you can eat French fries ("frites à volontier'). I rarely eat red meat so although delicious (a very buttery secret sauce) it is super heavy. How people finished it all and asked for more fries, I have no idea. The experience and expectation makes the food taste better. Standing in line was social and at least 2 sets of tourists asked why the queue and all regulars told them it was well worth the wait, which built up expectations. After about 20 minutes a whole lot of us were allowed in, we were all assigned the top floor. Despite being so busy, staff were incredibly friendly (I had expected stroppy service). They are happy to explain and seem proud to work there, and they are super efficient. It's an experience I will repeat next time I'm in France but it is so rich, I think one visit per visit to france is enough for me.

So delicious - worth the hype. Pretty much the reason we came to Bordeaux (I know that's ridiculous but that's how much we like food). The line started getting long at about a quarter to 7pm on a Sunday night, but they do have three levels of seating so as long as you're in that first queue, you should be seated immediately. They also allow anyone with disabilities, pregnant or elderly people to skip the queue. They do indeed only serve one main dish - olive oil salad with walnuts followed by steak done to your liking served with unlimited frites. Honestly it was the best steak I've ever had, and I've had a lot of steak. The buttery sauce with herbs was divine. The chips were also delicious. Note that the steak may come out a bit rarer than what some people may be used to (we are Australian and I asked for medium rare which came out as what Australian prime would call rare) but that was perfect for me. There are about 10 desserts to choose from too. I got the le vacherin au chocolat which was yum!

We visited here after watching Rick Stein’s series in which he visited it was a highlight of Bordeaux. It lived up to the hype and was the perfect spot after finishing the tour via those final stop is a few yards away. We thought we had time to grab a coffee beforehand as it doesn’t open until 19:00 but within ten minutes a queue had developed snaking around the block. We persevered and joined the queue which we were glad we did as it went down in no time at all. The concept is simple; a set menu of walnut salad to start, steak and fries and a dessert of choice. The food was absolutely superb, simply done yet of the highest quality. The staff are attentive, quick and professional. Absolutely phenomenal value for money from what you would comparably pay in UK. Three courses for couple with soft drinks for 60€ and of such great quality. Don’t be put off by the queues, this is well worth your time.

Now those slices of sirloin were delicious. But because this is the only food they prepare everything is done very fast. They only ask you how would you like your meet to be cooked and do you want fries. Fries are with unlimited refill and the choices for the meat vary from blue (never seen a pan) to well-done (but you destroy the meat like that). My choice was medium rare. Pro-tip: Do not eat the bread with salad. You gonna need it for the sause of the sirloin. I remove one star, because the salad was the most basic and simple one you can get. Just green leaves garden salad with walnuts. Would have enjoyed much more if it had at least some blue cheese in it. Pro tip:Also for lunch time it opens only for 2 hours, so be there in advance at least half hour. We spent there more than 1 hr, so the next costomers after us need to eat in a ruch, because the place doesn't take reservations.
