(Last visited 7/12/2021.) While working in Bordeaux for 2 weeks I get to hangout during the weekends so Bae and I made our way to the city center to check some places out! We did our usual Yelp'ing to find this place and here's how it went!

Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right in the midst of what feels like a maze of stone walkways is this gem. Le Michel's has a very recognizable red/white striped awning that will shield you from the scattered showers that seem to wash over the city this time of the year. The inside was packed, but like many of the other cafés around Bordeaux, there's only a few tables inside then quite a few outside. Dining outdoors in France is just a MUST-DO. We sat outside at the circular tables made for 2 and got rained on a couple of times, but the staff mashed us together with some other friendly diners and all was well. Lol.

Service: Our server was so sweet and made our dining experience wonderful. She catered to us, made sure we stayed dry, got us moved and just did the absolute most for us. We are forever grateful.

Food: Of course we had some white wine from Bordeaux, but to start our meal off we got an order of Gravlax Salmon. Gravlax or graved salmon is a Nordic dish consisting of salmon that is cured using a mix of salt and sugar, with either dill or spruce twigs placed on top. On top of it was a white, creamy, cold, cucumber-y-like sauce that reminded my tzatziki sauce. Putting the salmon onto the complimentary bread then applying the sauce on top makes for an absolutely Heavenly experience. The neutral tasting bread helps cut the powerful flavors of the salmon and the sauce down a bit this making them all work together a bit better. For my entrée I went with the Magret De Canard which is the duck breast. OMG. This was INCREDIBLE. First of all, the presentation was amazing. I don't even know how they cooked it, but the outside was crispy, but not crunchy. The inside was cooked to perfection, super juicy, tender and FULL of flavor. My goodness. The mashed potatoes were an excellent complement to the duck breast.

Value: Awesome! The Gravlax Salmon as only 9.00€ and our duck breasts were 19€ a piece. EXCELLENT value for the quality of food we had here.

In conclusion, this place was amazing and I loved it. Thank you so much to Bae for finding this place and to Le Michel's for dealing with us while we were getting rained on. Lol. Check this place out if you're in the area.

This cafe was situated around the corner of the AirBnB we were staying in Bordeaux. We got breakfasts a couple of mornings during our stay there. The people there work very hard (opened in early morning and stay open late) and are friendly people. Breakfast items are typical French, and price is very reasonable.Their cafe creme had really good dairy flavor. You know, that awesome rich dairy flavor you cannot find in typical milk in U.S.A.! Not every cafe in France serve cafe creme with that same good dairy flavor. I ended up bringing back a couple tetra-packs of milk from French supermarket, trying to replicate their cafe creme at home. Between the wine and milk, should have brought an extra bag for that...

We would have liked to have dinner there, but it's always packed every night we walked by. Would love to try dinner there next time! Give them a try for anytime of day when you're...

Recommended by a friend who lives in the region.

Place was really popular so had to wait for a table which was a good sign. Staff were really accommodating and found us a table really quickly. Atmosphere was great with a good selection on the menu.

We ordered a couple of small plates for the table, the onion soup was really good and could have easily been a main.

The mains were very tasty, particularly the pork ribs and duck. Drinks were very reasonable and good quality. Finished off the meal with some desserts to share and lovely smooth coffee.

Definitely a place to visit if you’re into your food. If getting the steak and usually order medium rare, probably best to go for medium as some of the group had their steak rarer than expected.

Final mention to the lovely staff who were welcoming, accommodating and really helpful...

a nice little bistro with an active patio near the Place du Parlement. A great place to people watch. We stopped for drinks and appetizers and were quite happy with the food. We ordered the Camembert, croque monsieur, blanquette de veau and a bottle of wine (they had Bordeaux wine in 1.5 litre bottles which was too much, we had to settle for a wine from the Loire Valley which was fine (but seemly sacrilegious that non Bordeaux wine is available in the wine capital of the world). Fine was fine and the service was exceptionally patient and friendly as we deciphered the menu.
