Hell's Kitchen Taverne — Restaurant in Chalon-sur-Saône

I found this place by accident while exploring Bourgogne with a friend, and I'm so glad I did!

I am shocked that the entire operation is run (and run well!) by ONE man! Despite the pressures of running a restaurant, the chef is friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about his craft. He single-handedly brings people together for an old-school gastromoical, social experience - a welcome distraction from a world where we are glued to our phone screens.

As barbaric Americans from Los Angeles, my friend and I ate in our tradition with our hands, while the natives delicately dissected the masterpiece with a knife and fork. Regardless of differences in the manner of attack, all patrons will unify in the opinion that the burgers are absolutely amazing!

1 L’ambiance Comme son nom l’indique, Ambiance biker, y compris pour la musique. Le patron est seul aux manettes. Pas de jolie serveuse aux formes généreuses. Donc allez chercher votre bière et votre burger au bar. Bref, c’est un style. Après on aime ou on aime pas. Perso j’ai beaucoup aimé. 2 Le burger. Rien à redire. Recette du moment. Choix entre deux burgers. Viande flambée au whisky. À l’observer travailler, visiblement le patron a suivi une formation en cuisine. C’est bon et très copieux. Donc ne pas venir avec le ventre déjà à moitié plein, je vous aurais prévenu. 🤣 3 Les bières Un très grand choix. Ma préférence va à la pression et le patron connaît son produit. De mémoire, 5 bières en pression ( à confirmer ). Après il y a un large choix de bouteilles et de canettes. Bref, il y en a pour tous les goûts. 4 En résumé, une bonne table entre potes. As many have mentioned this bar is an absolute treasure. Amazing selection of specialty beers, friendliest staff ever, and burgers that are to die for!! Seriously one of the best burgers I've had in my life!
