We were a little fatigued from being on our legs for long parts of the day and just needed to get in somewhere and get a feed. We stumbled across Le Duguesclin, which looked absoluterly fine, so in we went.
We managed to get a table on the terrace, which was good. It is "building locked" so there are no spectacular views to be had.
I started with a really nice goats cheese salad. It was nothing at all fancy but it was fresh, made up of good ingredients and it was lovely. I would eat it each day of the week, no problems.
My wife had a pizza made from chicken and pineapple, yeah bizarre but true, but she ate until she was full up so no complaints.
I had a pizza that contained capers, anchovies and ham. I thouroughly enjoyed it though the anchovies gave me a raging thirst. I knew what was coming and it really hit the spot, lovely.
I finished off with vanilla, and chocolate ice cream with a cognac thrown over it. This was a super way to end a thoroughly enjoyable meal.
I had a beer to begin with and we share a litre of house red.
We returned the second night when we both started with a salad each and had a steak with frites. Absolutely hit the spot, great stuff.
My wife finished with ice cream, I smashed into a coffee and XO Cognac.
We just went for the half litre of house red this time and it washed the beautiful entrecote down a treat.
Service was exceptional on both visits. To be honest I can't remember if I left a tip on the first evening, so I definitely went large on the second visit.
This is a really nice place where they look after you good style. Portions are ample, prices are fair and at 7.20 euro for a XO Cognac you can't loose.
Two meals a pizza and a steak very much enjoyed, top...
Read moreVery poor service. We were pressed to make our order. I asked for a spoon, first the waitress came to verify that I was telling the truth by checking under my plate, kir cocktail was served in a wine glass and when asking what is in the café gourmand, I was told that she doesn't know without offering to go check from the kitchen. The food was mediocre. I ordered filled raviolli with cèpes, duck magret and foie gras sauce. I was served in a bowl, everything was swimming in sauce and there were 2 slices of duck magret. It would have been more inviting to be served in a plate with much less sauce. And with...
