We were very interested to learn everything about Cognac-Production, from growing the wine, to harvesting, and the whole production process of Cognac. But this „300 year Anniversary Tour“ at Remy Martin (€35/adult, €15/child, €120 for a family of four with one child older than 18 years) was a complete fail and, excuse me for saying this, a complete ripp-off!
Do not book this tour if you want to learn about and watch the production process. Even if this cannot happen on the premises, good film material could habe made up for not being able to view the actual production sites.
This tour is about talking over and over again about the brand „Remy Martin“ and the people who founded it and later took over. But mostly it is a commercial ad tour for the different Cognacs Remy Martin produces.
Taking photos of interesting things, like old flasks, is not allowed. Only in one room with very tacky big bottles, it is allowed to take photos.
We were led through the house, in one conference room we could sit around tables which produced some random LED Audio show, that gave absolutely no benefit whatsoever. Two bottles of Cognac emerged from the center of the table, I thought James Bond probably comes in through the door next.
Literally the only interesting site was walking through the old wine cellar, where big containers of l‘eau de vie (70% alcohol made from white wine after two steps of distillation) were stored, plus Cognac in old oak barrels. It was the only place that put the emphasis on the Cognacmaking. The rest was just show. Unfortunately also the „filmshow“ at the end, in another cellar, was just really random. At least there were some fim projections symbolizing the production process, but unfortunately it was the light and sound show that was at the center here. No educational benefit whatsoever.
Granted, there was a tasting of VSOP and XO Cognac, with a tiny cheese covered cracker plus a dark chocolate truffle. I truly regret having spend that amount of money for this little information and that much...
Read moreHave you purchased the RM VSOP in the cheaply made bottle with its equally cheap stopper in very tacky black and red colours?!
I know they want to maximize profits but I’m not throwing serious money away on a super tacky bottle that looks like it’s made in Africa or Mexico.
There are plenty of other decent companies who don’t try to cheat their customers and are proud to put their product in decent bottles.
I really felt cheated when I opened the box and looked at the tacky bottle with its hideous cork stopper. There are wine companies out there that use real glass stoppers. What’s this company’s excuse? They hired some flunky designer and took advice from a loser MBA student about cutting corners?
I made the mistake of giving them one last chance. Never again! What a...
Read moreIts a place of rich history, where a time remy martin has been started to be made. However, now a days its not used for the same, as due to government guidelines that much amount of alcohol can not be kept inside. If you go for tour they tell you about house history and different tasting masters. They also show the process and how they are managing now. As per them, they take most of their cognac from partners. One can taste, 4 year old VSOP model and way older XO model. Different remy martins can also...
