Excellent dinner at La Soï! The restaurant is small and reservations are recommended, but we took a chance and asked them at 6:50 if they had room for 2 at the 7pm seating, and they said sure, have a seat now! They sat us on one end of a 6-person counter-height table and seated 2 others at the end and didn't seat anyone in the middle seats so that we would have room/personal space. They have a limited yet precise menu, and it comes in sooo many languages! I got a peek at their pile and it looked like at least 10 languages, maybe more. So when you go, don't be shy to ask for your language. The owner (wife) spoke English pretty well and explained how their menu works. She said it's a one-person plate but it's best eaten shared because it tends to cool down quickly. I guess you're supposed to order a second flambee after you finish the first, but hubs and I chose to split a wild garlic with mushrooms added and a blueberry tarte for dessert. Both were so good!! I also tried their panache drink - lemonade mixed with beer. Surprisingly tasty! So glad we were able to try tarte flambee for the first time during our brief visit to the...
Read moreMy family and I are in Colmar for 3 days. We came across La Soi on Google Maps and saw that it was full when we were walking back from dinner during our first night. I figured if we get there right when dinner service starts at 7, then we should be able to get a table, but I was so wrong. They were already fully booked for the rest of the night, and closed for the next two days. I was so disappointed thinking that I won't be and to try it based on all the reviews. Since we were staying around the corner from there. I asked the guy if I can get take out. He did me a favor and was able to accommodate that. I saw a "take away available" sign hidden when I was waiting for my order, so I am pretty sure that they weren't taking take out orders either. We took it back to our Airbnb, and it was so yummy. We got the Munster and the Gratinée. I'm so glad that we were able to try this place during our trip. Thank you so much to the kind staff who was able to accommodate my take out order.
This place is a MUST GO in Colmar, and make sure to make a...
Read moreIf you want to come to this place, you have to make a reservation in advance. Because it’s always fully booked, and they do not do takeaway. (Why not? If I were the owner, I would ^^)
After reading other reviews, I ordered a truffle one! The Flemmkuchen is tasty in general but I personally find it a bit salty and the edges are a bit burned. ( maybe that’s how it should be?)
You can see people making it in the kitchen, one is way enough and I can’t finish mine. It fills your stomach more than it looks!
The space is tiny inside and don’t have room for a baby trolley. I wanted to order takeaway, but they only do indoor dining, so I finally made it with my...
