In the hustle and bustle of a sunny Sunday afternoon, we, a group of six, decided to visit this popular spot, well-renowned for its picturesque surroundings and buzzing ambiance. With a location that undoubtedly attracts throngs of people, we were prepared for a bit of a wait, and wait we did, for a good 30 minutes.

The outdoor seating, albeit limited in shaded areas for larger groups, offers a splendid opportunity for people-watching, which turned out to be an unexpected delight. So if you're a fan of immersing yourself in the local scene or just enjoy watching the world go by, this is definitely a spot for you.

However, on to the less stellar part of our experience: the food. We were left disappointed by the culinary offerings. The entrecôte we ordered was tough and laborious to both cut and consume, falling far below our expectations for a dish of its kind. A meal that should have been a delight turned into a test of endurance, which was certainly not what we'd hoped for.

We also tried the Tarte Flambée. Though it was just average, it was still a far cry from the culinary disaster that was the entrecôte. It seems that this is just one of those restaurants that capitalizes more on its location than on the quality of its cuisine, catering predominantly to the tourist crowd.

In summary, this place promises a vibrant atmosphere and a lovely setting for some downtime, especially on a sunny day. But if you're a food enthusiast seeking an extraordinary culinary experience, you might want to look elsewhere. It's essentially a touristy restaurant in a touristy town, offering a subpar dining experience that doesn't quite match up to its delightful ambience and setting. A missed...

Not a bad place. We had to wait a little while to be seated on New Year's day. The waiting staff and kitchen were very much overwhelmed by the incredible amount of customers they had to deal with tonight. We ordered drinks and meals after 20 minutes sitting at the table, trying to catch the eye of a server. After we succeeded, drinks appeared swiftly, and meals eventually, too. Keep in mind that the place was packed and more people were lining up outside. We received a schnitzel with chips, lukewarm, and a plate of fried potatoes we had ordered had turned into hot chips - only they were cold. We didn't even try to complain at this stage. We were happy to have received food at all. The onion soup I had ordered was no longer lukewarm but not quite cold yet and didn't seem to contain any recently boiled fresh onions. The local specialty, ovenbaked three meats with potatoes, was flawless. Other customers seemed to be very happy with their food, and that means we'll try again on a less busy day. The place itself is big but somewhat cosy and quaint because of its layout. On our way out, there was a long line-up of 20 to 30 people trying to get in and waiting patiently, which tells me that the place has a good reputation. So our experience tonight could have...

The food was cold and sour, even with a hair between the potatoes, I do not recommend it to anyone, and when we speak with the gentleman in charge, just to improve, said that the problem was ours and that we would not come back.

Pretty decent restaurant that serves local cuisine, offers multilingual menus, and is open all day (doesn't close between lunch and dinner). Husband had the Springtime rosti and I had the sauerkraut with potatoes and various pork. My dish was, as expected, much too large! I didn't need an entire slice of ham, and I only ate half the mountain of sauerkraut. It was a little bland for my tastes, so I used the commercially packaged Dijon mustard on the table. (French Dijon is much hotter than American Dijon.) Husband's rosti was very good, and he totally could've ordered the vegetarian version and helped me with all that pork on my plate. Service could've been more attentive and friendlier, but I'm not sure if they were that way because they were busy or because we spoke no French and they were shy with their English? Anyway, it was a convenient place to eat a late lunch of local cuisine, but it's not a must-try.

Authentic Alsatian cuisine in the heart of Old Town Colmar. We arrived as walk-ins for a 7pm dinner on a weekday and were seated after about a 15 minute wait. We were quite hungry and shared la tarte flambée au munster, le Bibalakas aux deux jambons, le roesti forestier, le roesti végétarien, and a bottle of Gewürztraminer. The munster cheese on the tarte flambee was delicious, and my parents thought the house specialty roesti forestier was great! Unfortunately, the vegetarian roesti tasted more bland, and we weren't too fond of the bibalakas which seemed like a charcuterie board with potatoes thrown in. The staff were all very busy since all the tables were full, but they still took our order and delivered our food in a timely manner.
