Beautiful house, better service and best food we had in Colmar!
But fist, lets talk about the "elephant in the room" As I was looking for restaurants in Colmar, everything seamed to be quite close to the "city center", but the Cygne seamed to be quite "far away". This is not true. We needed 15 min from the Market hall to the Cygne and since we arrived there we knew that was the place we were looking for the last 3 days. I am pretty sure we were the only Tourist in the place, which was completely packed (only the ground floor).
Before going there (we were already on our way to be truth) we called and asked if they had a table for two (engl. Was not a problem). On the arrival, we were offered a table on the little room to the right. We asked if we could rather sit on the main room and got the perfect table in there. As aperitive we had a nice Cremant rose and thank God the people on the table beside received their food before we ordered. We copied a part of their order ( beef queens something on a delicious cream) and we asked for the beef in shallots. The food was perfect! We had a coffee and some water.
After paying (53€ for everything) we asked if we could see the second floor of the building (since there were stairs everywhere). A very nice Waiter showed us the massive rooms upstairs and the nice wood work in the old house.
We had a great time and would not hesitate to come back. Next time a bit more pictures of the...

It's so sad how they accommodated my dinner, the first server was so nice to me that I was looking forward to get the Café Gourmand he recommended, unfortunately the lady took over my table and made me feel so unwelcome. She brought my food to table lay it down as if I'm some sort of a beggar, my food was spread out all over my table, Truly disappointing! I'm asian but I can speak french and german, so language wasn't the problem. Then the flies started flying in my table I kept on trying to call her attention but she doesn't want to be bothered. I HAVE ABOUT 4-5 FLIES, I had to finish my steak and left everything, now 2nd part of my disappointment was their card reader is so slow but she made it look like its my card's fault! Oh that triggered me so much! She even said, "You cannot leave!" Like for real? I am not even moving, im waiting patiently. So this is my honest and sad review. I have never felt so...
Read moreLoved this Winstub. It came as a recommendation from a local, and what a great place it is. To start, the service was wonderful - I was served by Priscila (my apologies if I got the name wrong), and she took such good care of me (a lone diner). She translated the french menu for me (and not once, haha), shared her recommendations of local dishes, and did all that with a super friendly demeanour! The food was also great, and local, and there was a lot of it ;)
What made the restaurant feel really local is the fact that it seemed I was the only non-local person there. Every table that came in after me seemed to know the staff/owner, and that only showed that it's a place trusted by many.
The outdoor setting has a superb atmosphere, and overall I couldn't be happier!
I will definitely come back next time I'm...
