Tourist Office of Colmar — Attraction in Colmar-Ribeauvillé

Weren’t left with a fuzzy feeling after leaving here. Staff appear uninterested to truly help…just going through the motions. Case in point: we were handed a list of three taxi companies serving the town but suspect they are not interested in short deliveries in town. So no taxis. My friend who spoke no French asked if the young lady working could phone the taxi for him. A flat no even though it was late in the afternoon and absolutely no one but us was in their building. We asked for a bus map and where we could take a bus to the car rental place for Enterprise as they gave us a list of rental cars, their phone numbers and addresses. Again the young lady only had to check the bus routes to tell us how to take one. But no, we were sent off with that map and some vague gestures as to where we might find one. (Strangers on the street were more helpful to us showing us the locations.). Finally we took bus 6 and got off at Manufacture spot to walk to our Enterprise car rental. After about walking 30 minutes in a mostly industrial zone, we arrived at the address for Enterprise rental car that was on the list given to us by the tourist office in Colmar. There was no Enterprise rental business at that location. Our 79 year old friend ( with quintuple heart bypasses) had to walk almost out to the airport to the “new” location. The staff at the Colmar Tourist office is really helpful and provide adequate suggestions. They give you all the plans and even mark the timings of the bus if you want to visit the neighbouring places..

The only thing that there are not many buses due to school holidays, so you are kind of atuck, either with very little bus service or with a schedule that doesn't allow muvc flexibility for your planning! The woman that helped us was very nice and helpful, but she recommended us the Christmas Shuttle Bus or Navettes de Noel to visit all the villages in the surroundings, and it was a completely awful experience. We were waiting hours to go to one village to another, they sell more tickets than spaces are in the buses and we almost froze in one village where we waited for almost two hours because the first bus was full. Please do not recommend this, as we were more time waiting and traveling than enjoying...
