VERY UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE / RACIST Service: My fiancé and I arrived and there was no people in the restaurant and they sat us down on a table right next to the plants. We moved and in the moment we moved they placed the "reserved" plaque on our table and moved us again to another table. They gave us the menu right after they served other two tables that arrived after us. There were 7 severs just standing right next right next of the restaurant looking at the tables. We are talking to the server in French, she replies in English (and no, it was not because she was not understanding us. We've been living in France for 6 years and speak French perfectly). Right after we were eating another table sat down (french speakers) and they were attended right away and on top of that, the waitress shared the daily special (she did not do it for us). Btw, the "reserved" plate removed right after we were moved and the table was given to customers who just walked in and looked more French, I guess. Food: Pizza was fine. I ordered the cheese burrata with grilled aubergines. It was only 5 pieces of a small aubergine. And was more expensive than the pizza. My fiancé and I were talking about the portion among ourselves and we noticed that the servers were evesdropping our talks and discussing among themselves. Extremely rude and unprofessional behavior.
They should learn how to read better the clients and specially in Fontainebleau with more international tourists...

My husband and I ordered a pizza to eat back at our hotel while visiting Fontainebleau.
While we were waiting for said pizza on the street across from the restaurant my husband accidentally knocked over an ashtray and some cigarettes that were precariously sitting on the wall near where we were standing.
When the waiter came over to us to give us the pizza, he angrily accused my husband of knocking over the ashtray and asked us, “am I supposed to pick up these cigarettes?”
We took our pizza and stood there dumbfounded that a waiter would chastise us for knocking over an ashtray. My husband went over to pick up the ashtray but didn’t know where to put it because it was badly placed. What did he expect us to do?! We didn’t have a broom to clean up cigarettes!
The fact that we, as paying clients, got yelled at by this waiter in front of other customers is the reason I’m giving this place 1-star. And if I could I would give it 0 stars due the the very unpleasant experience I went through here. No paying customer deserves to be spoken to, belittled, and yelled at for a relatively minor incident.
I would strongly recommend that the business owner reprimand this waiter and reassess the customer service that its establishment is...
Read morerevised version (July 2025) - previous review (5 stars) below Antica Trattoria is no more. the Italian family who owned it probably left since 2002. Terrible, terrible food and poor management. The pizze were all overcooked (not only our pizza, but our neighbors'), so hard we could not even cut (and btw a pizza should be pre-cut when it arrives...). A disaster. As for the pasta, it probably rested outside for a while, became a solid block of overcooked spaghetti. When I told the manager, he arrogantly told me to stir them a bit, that it was fine.... I insisted there was a problem and stood my ground. He reluctantly accepted to take them back and re-do them. Instead, they put it in the oven (the plate was piping hot) but the result was still way overcooked. There are much better (and cheaper) Italian restaurants in town (PS: thank you to the 2 lady staff that served us and even gave us a small discount for our dissatisfaction, they well nice and amenable, but the manager and the cook are the real problem). 1 star overall
Past review (July 2022) Family atmosphere with super tasty and authentic Italian dishes. Loved the eggplant fusilli, the pizze (with shrimp, with burrata etc) and the rest. The owner, an Italian lady, is super friendly. Feeling at...
