Mamma Trattoria — Restaurant in Gex

We were in Ferney Voltaire for a night. Had to catch an early morning flight. But wanted to have a memorable evening at the end of a vacation. I had emailed the restaurant the previous day to make a booking. And Jerome replied in an hour confirming our table. Even asked us to get jackets as we may be sitting on the terrace! We had a wonderful evening. We were shown to our table by Nicola and looked after very well. Excellent rose wine. We ordered 3 different pizzas-each of them delicious. Hit the spot after a long day of hiking! Topped off a great evening with tiramisu.

This will be our go to place the next time we are in Ferney...

Simple?! Brace yourself for the brilliance of "basic italian" cuisine. So I came here as I was staying at a hotel across the path and I hadn't prepared myself. The server was the most friendly, energetic, welcoming I've encountered...may ever! The food was in-cre-di-ble! : I had a tomato basil salad, meatballs (JUST GET THEM), and a side of spaghetti. During my 7 day stay in Menton I visited twice and if I come here again, it'll be at the top of my list.

Really excellent pizzas and very friendly service, with good value food served in a pleasant garden. Two issues: the garden is looked over by a very unattractive block of apartments; more importantly, there didn't seem to be a non-smoking section and we were covered in smoke from a neighbouring table. Now in fairness we didn't ask if there was a non-smoking area (in a small open-plan garden??) but nor were we asked if we wanted smoking or not. If smoking doesn't bother you: pizzas make it very much worth the visit! Otherwise,...
