Nestled in the heart of St Paul de Vence, Restaurant Le Tilleul offers an unforgettable dining experience with a setting as exceptional as its cuisine. The location is simply magnificent, perched in the village center with a spacious terrace that boasts stunning views of the surrounding landscape. It’s the perfect spot to soak in the charm of this historic town. Service was top-notch: warm, fast, and genuinely welcoming. The staff were efficient and seemed to truly enjoy what they do, which added to the relaxed and joyful atmosphere. For lunch, we started with the Green Peas Gaspacho and the Zucchini Velouté with Shrimps and Mashed Potatoes. Both dishes were refined, fresh, and full of flavor, simple ingredients elevated with care and creativity. Dessert was a highlight: we sampled the Crème Brûlée, Fondant au Chocolat, and the Lemon Tart. Every dessert is homemade by their in-house pâtisserie, and it shows. Each one was beautifully crafted and delicious, striking the perfect balance between indulgence and finesse. Without a doubt, this is the best restaurant in the St Paul de Vence area. Whether you’re stopping for lunch or enjoying a leisurely dinner, Le Tilleul is well worth a visit. A true gem!

A restaurant with a racist attitude. The waiter who served our table clearly treated us differently from other guests—and in the end, we were still expected to pay a service fee for that kind of treatment! After back to my country, I contacted the restaurant's manager to express my frustration and concern. But apart from polished wording, there was no real apology or sincerity. If the discriminatory behavior had only come from one staff member, the way management responded has unfortunately shown that the issue reflects the restaurant’s overall values. I honestly don’t understand how, in the 2020s—in a place like Saint-Paul-de-Vence, known for its artistic spirit and progressive atmosphere—a restaurant this blatantly exclusionary still exists. What exactly is its reputation built on, and how has it survived this long? After reading more reviews, I realized it’s not just about race—they treat non-French-speaking customers with the same level of rudeness and contempt. I consider myself a respectful and reasonable person, but I’ve thought about this for a long time, and I’m still deeply angry.

We had a date night dinner here and ordered a shared appetizer, two lobster pastas and a bottle of wine. They brought us only one main course instead of two - obviously the waitress understood something wrong even though I said twice that we both would like to have the same main course for both. And that's fine, can happen. What made the experience bad, was that they had three opportunities to fix the mistake but they didn't care. When they brought the food, they could have apologized and taken the ready pasta back under the heat lamp meanwhile the second one was prepared. Instead it was left to our table to get cold and we waited for more than 10 minutes. We gave feedback to another waitress, still no reaction. At the end the waitress tried to sell us dessert and I explained the situation again, they just said that they wanted to get the food to us fast. From almost a 200€ dinner with 2 (originally planed 3) courses for two we expect to be able to have a decent experience and service - not to have the food fast. Therefore I can't recommend.

I’ve been working in restaurants for 10 years and have traveled to many many countries and have never been treated the way we were treated at Tilleul tonight.

One of us ordered a rack of lamb and were brought the duck. The waiter made a mistake, no problem. We had to wait another 20 minutes for the lamb. No problem. We’re on vacation, we really didn’t care. We were then brought the “rack of lamb” for 38 euros that was basically a bunch of disgusting, inedible fat on a bone (we couldn’t even cut it). When we kindly told the waiter (not ours) it wasn’t edible and we didn’t want it, he, along with the rest of the Tilleul staff proceeded to argue with us multiple times about the dish saying that’s how they always make it and nobody complains. They even brought it back to us cut up, which still looked terrible and like nothing I’ve ever seen before, and we still didn’t touch it.

I see a photo of their lamb from 4 months ago in the reviews that looks completely different from what we received tonight. On their menu it says “carée d’agneau” and below translates to “rack of lamb”. Let me suggest that you fix your horrible, uneducated translation and treat your customers with some respect when you are in the wrong. I have ordered countless racks of lamb and have never seen anything like this.

The most pathetic part is that they continued to argue with us and forced us to pay for it. What a gross way to treat people dining at your restaurant. You should be ashamed of yourselves and your rude staff.

The ravioli was delicious and so was the chèvre salad. Our waiter was very nice from the start as well. But I truly wish we picked a different restaurant and I suggest you...

A Culinary Gem in the Heart of Saint-Paul-de-Vence – Restaurant Le Tilleul

We visited Restaurant Le Tilleul as two families—seven people in total—without a reservation, right in the middle of the busy July season (note to future visitors: make a reservation in advance!). Despite the longer wait for a table, our experience was nothing short of exceptional.

From the very start, we were captivated by the warm and attentive service and the truly exquisite food. Each dish was crafted with the utmost care and attention to detail, delighting our palates with every bite. The starters and main courses were all extraordinary—duck, steak, fish—every single one cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor.

A special mention must go to the foie gras, easily the best we’ve had anywhere in France. The dessert selection and presentation were both creative and elegant, taking us to a level of culinary ecstasy we hadn’t expected.

To our absolute delight, we had the privilege of being served by the Chef himself, who, despite the late hour and clearly a long and demanding day, welcomed us with a smile and impeccable English, personally recommending his favorite dishes from the menu.

Chapeau bas to the entire team at Le Tilleul. Even in the middle of peak season, with a full house and the natural fatigue of a busy service, every staff member remained cheerful, gracious, and meticulous. Thanks to them, this evening became one of those rare dining experiences that stays with you long after the last bite.

Our visit was the perfect antidote to the phrase “Tell me why I don’t like Mondays.” Thank you, and much respect to the whole team at Le Tilleul for making our evening so...

I’ve had some fantastic meals in south of France and it’s easy to stumble across some absolute treasures. However this dining experience was unfortunately my worst and I have walked away wishing I had chosen somewhere different. There are many places in this area with a more authentic and romantic atmosphere. My partner and I came here for lunch and enjoyed some great lamb chops and tuna tartare. The other meals were adequate. However what has ruined the experience for us was that we both saw on the menu a 2 course option for €25. The menu options were what my partner would order anyway, we didn’t come to the restaurant for discounts. It was a special occasion and we wouldn’t mind paying more but it just happened that we chose 2 as part of that special. However to our surprise when the bill came they charged us each individually resulting in €15 above what we were expecting (we would have tipped the lovely waiter that anyway). However when we raised the error with the waiter, he called over the owner/manager who told us we were wrong. We both explained that we both saw that the menu clearly states they are included to which he pointed his two fingers to his eyes and to my partner and then stated next time we should both read properly. It was our mistake he made clear and then turned and walked away. My waiter profusely apologised and we paid the extra money and went on our way. Sadly, 2 thumbs down for this place. I highly recommend to anyone wanting a special experience in this beautiful town to give Le Tilleul...
