Iséo — Restaurant in La Rochelle

You are treated a bit differently if you just want a quick drink, because you are not spending enough money, you don’t deserve a decent seat according to the waitress. We were on our way to a restaurant for dinner and wanted to have a quick drink. Took a table that still had some sunshine as in the shade it was cold. They had about 8-9 empty tables. We told her we just want something to drink quickly and go. She didn’t care, she made us move to the shade. She said she is expecting to be busy. We were done in 20 mins with our drinks and those tables were still empty. This just shows, if you are not coming in with the agenda to eat ( spending lots of money) then you are not worthy. If she was nice to us, we would have left some tips, possibly have another drink or come back another day for more drinks or food. This is the exact example of how to lose customers over greediness and they even get a bad feedback. She probably needs a little training on politeness and customer service as she was...

Really enjoyable experience and the food is an example of great french asian fusion. Now with an overflow area the place has great views over the port and always seems busy. The langoustine dumplings, fried fish parcels in sauce, scallop red curry (coquilles st jacques) and chicken yellow curry are all amazing (and were recommended). Service was also very professional and you have to admire how it all comes together. There is a recommended wine from Alsace that's worth trying to go with the spices. The menu is very varied (perhaps a little too much), cocktails are good and dessert is a little lacking in execution but overall this place deserves its positive reputation. This has to be one of my favourite restaurants I have ever been to and I have been to many all over the world. I reserved as I had passed by so many times and it was always busy. I received a warm welcome and showed to my table immediately. They bring out your menu and a little taster straight away. For starters I ordered raw tuna with cucumber with such a beautiful ginger and coriander flavour. For mains I took marmite des poissons in a curry rouge with rice and I am still dreaming of it - it was just thee most delicious meal. For dessert I ordered profiteroles but With a twist - one large profiterole with ice cream and chocolate sauce - 😋😋😋. The staff here are very nice and quick here and service is rapid.
