O Thaï — Restaurant in Lille

Wowie! What a wonderful dining experience! Do NOT expect traditional (yawn, boring) Thai - expect a VERY skilled chef, who keeps their eye on QUALITY FRESH veg and chicken. Kind of Thai with a fresh nouvelle twist! But not priced as such. If this restaurant were in Los Angeles it would be expensive and there would be a line OUT THE DOOR! I am sure the other offerings are as good. (We did not have beef or shrimp) We have eaten Thai all over the world. This chef (who is from Laos) and the waitress (yes, there is ONE) who is from Hong Kong have created a really, REALLY great place. The atmosphere is casual, fun with TONS of MANGA decorations of all things!!! GREAT whiskey and beer offerings also BTW. Truly they CARE a LOT. Highly recommended!!! Such a great find in LILLE. food is good. However the service is really bad. The waitress is very kind but they serve after a long time. We waited for about 30-40 mins to have the starters. Then after the starters we got only one of the dish we ordered. we understood it will gale them again a lot of time serve the next, and that was true. Finally they tell us they don't even have the noodles that i ordered. I felt this could have been told at the time of taking the order. So after almost finishing the first dish we get the second, which was not exactly what we asked for. The food wasn't bad but with this kind of service we totally regretted going there. The food was ok but the beef massaman was too salty and lacked the authentic Thai flavours you normally find in the dish. My partner had Pad Thai which also lacked the sweet and sour flavours you get. Both the dishes had an overall Chinese flavour and lacked their Thai flavours which reflects the people who run the restaurant. At least it wasn’t...
